EU-Philippines Business Summit 2018
This 2018, we look at how the current administration's initiatives and programs in line with its Socioeconomic Agenda and priorities have substantially progressed – Build, Build, Build Program, tax reform, ease of doing business, labor protection furthered through the Executive Order on Contractualization, sustainable development and climate adaptation, and universal healthcare, among many others. In addition, the Philippines' economy is at steady growth, EU remains to be one of the top trading partner of the Philippines, and the EU-Philippines Partnership Cooperation Agreement has been put into force – a major milestone for the EU-Philippine relations. With this in mind, the EU-Philippines Business Network (EPBN) is organizing the EU-Philippines Business Summit 2018 with the theme "EU and the Philippines: Jointly Pursuing Competitiveness for Inclusive Growth" on 18 October 2018, at Solaire Resort and Hotel.   1. Offers:
    1. Transferring between universities is not allowed. (e.g. Starting studies at the junior year is not allowed.)
    2. Graduate course: Master's or Ph.D. courses at general graduate schools of Korean universities
  2. Qualifications
    1. Both an applicant and his/her parents must be citizens of their country of origin.
    2. Applicants should not hold Korean citizenship.
    3. Applicants should have adequate health, both mentally and physically, to stay in a foreign country for a long time.
    4. Should be under 25 years of age at the date of entrance. (Undergraduate)
    5. Should be under 40 years of age at the date of entrance. (Graduate)
    6. Have finished or be scheduled to finish formal education of all elementary, middle, high school courses by the date of arrival. (Undergraduate)
    7. Possess a grade point average (G.P.A.) above 80% from the last educational institution attended.
    8. Hold a Bachelor’s degree or a Master's degree by the date of arrival. (Graduate)

Call for Applications: “ASEAN Youth Interfaith Camp 2018 (AYIC)
The Republic of Indonesia will be hosting this year’s ASEAN Youth Interfaith Camp 2018 from 28 October to 4 November 2018 in Jakarta, Yogkarta and Bali, Indonesia. The program is an implementation of the ASEAN Declaration of Culture and Prevention for a Peaceful, Inclusive, Resilient, Healthy and Harmonious Society which was adopted by ASEAN leaders at the 31st ASEAN Summit in November 2017. The first ASEAN Youth Interfaith Camp was held in 2017 in Indonesia that resulted in the Jombang Declaration and its action plan that underlines the desires of the ASEAN youth to organize the AYIC into an annual event.
The AYIC organizer is looking for future faith leaders from among ASEAN youth. The participants will have a first-hand experience of being exposed to Indonesia’s Unity in Diversity, through an exciting series of field visits and discussions.

IBM’s Master the Mainframe




Master the Mainframe is a fun way to learn, earn digital badges and experience hands-on mainframe technology with no prior knowledge required!
Master the Mainframe’s Learning System is open to anyone year-round for technology training and earning IBM digital badges.
Yearly, the IBM Z Academic Initiative sponsors a Master the Mainframe global contest where academic students can learn while vying to win prizes. New challenges are posted each September.


How it goes:
Part 1: Learn the Basics

  • Meet the platform used by top companies around the world to run their most business critical applications. Learn how to access a user interface, the basic concepts of mainframe programming, and the fundamentals of what differentiates the mainframe from other platforms. IBM will provide step by step instructions to complete the challenges and set you up for success in Part 2.
Part 2: Practice
  • Continue your mainframe skills journey learning how to program with languages such as JAVA, C, COBOL and REXX. Learn JCL and assembly language to navigate the mainframe environment using advanced commands, system security tools and system navigation tools.  Earn the Part 2 IBM Digital Badge to showcase your new skills to employers around the world.
Part 3: Real World Challenge
  • Dive even deeper into the mainframe using real life scenarios encountered by experienced systems programmers. Data Analytics, creative problem solving and knowledge gained in Part 1 and Part 2 challenges will help build out the final challenges.  Part 3 will put contestants to the test and identify those with the most drive and determination to Master the Mainframe.

Eligibility: Anyone who is currently a student at the high school or university level can compete — no experience is necessary. The contest teaches the skills you’ll need and the competition difficulty increases as you progress through the contest phases.

Hack Manila 2018

Over the weekend of November 17-18, for 48 hours (from registration to closing ceremony), a group of dynamic hackers ranging from students to founders from all across Metro Manila will engage in collaborative computer programming to produce a web, mobile, or hardware project from scratch. 2nd Dev Forum: Disaster Risk and Crisis Management 2018

In line with the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030, the purpose of the Dev Forum on DRCM is to encourage key leaders and managers in various sectors and industries to appreciate the need for:
  1. Gaining a better understanding of disaster risks;
  2. Strengthening disaster risk governance to better manage crisis and disaster risks;
  3. Investing in disaster risk reduction for resilience; and
  4. Enhancing crisis and disaster preparedness for effective response and recovery.
The 2nd Dev Forum: Disaster Risk and Crisis Management 2018 is organized by Asian Institute of Management- Stephen Zuellig Graduate School of Development Management and the Asia Society for Social Improvement and Sustainable Transformation (ASSIST).

Unilever’s Future Leaders’ League 2019
The competition is a business case competition using one of Unilever’s brands.
The competition is open to residents of the Philippines at least 18 years old and currently enrolled in any university nationwide with an undergraduate degree from the beginning of the competition to the end of the global final in 2019. Proof of enrolment may be requested.
To qualify, entrants must register at www.unileverphilippinesfll.com as a team of three (3) individuals from the same University.
  • For the first leg of the competition, a 1-page proposal on a marketing plan to strengthen the link between the Knorr brand and nutrition must be submitted in PDF format. Teams will be shortlisted to compete at the semi-finals level.
  • At the semi-finals, teams will be selected and invited to a one-day marketing workshop. The semi-finals case will also be discussed. Semi-finalists will present to a panel of judges who will select the National Finalists.
  • At the National finals, the top six (6) teams identified at the semi-finals will present their proposal to a panel of judges. The top team will win a trip to London to represent Unilever Pilippines at the global final round of the competition
