I. GA Tidbits - House Rebreb
  • Josh: World News - Iran court sentences ‘US Spy’ to death. Iran's judiciary says it has convicted three people of spying for the US, sentencing one of them to death, and another person of spying for the UK. Spokesman Gholamhossein Esmaili said two men, Ali Nafariyeh and Mohammadali Babapour, had received 10-year prison sentences for working for the CIA. Mohammad Amin Nasab was jailed for 10 years for aiding British intelligence. Mr Esmaili said he would not identify the person sentenced to death because the verdict was subject to appeal (https://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-49891609).
  • Josh: Local News - Polio Outbreak Declared in the PH. Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, September 19)—  Nineteen years after the World Health Organization (WHO) cleared the country of the disease, the Department of Health (DOH) on Thursday confirmed the reemergence of polio in the Philippines. In a media briefing, Health Secretary Francisco Duque III said officials have declared a polio outbreak in the country following a single reported case of the infectious disease, which causes nerve injury leading to possible paralysis (https://cnnphilippines.com/news/2019/9/19/Polio-epidemic-reemergence-DOH-Philippines.html).
  • Josh: UP News - UP Coach Perasol Suspended for 3 Games. MANILA, Philippines -- (UPDATE) University of the Philippines (UP) head coach Bo Perasol has been given a three-game suspension following his outburst in the Fighting Maroons' game against Ateneo de Manila University last Sunday. In what was their final game of the first round of UAAP Season 82, Perasol lost his cool with 6:23 left in the third quarter and charged at a game official, since identified as Jaime Rivano (https://news.abs-cbn.com/sports/10/01/19/uaap-up-coach-perasol-suspended-for-3-games).
  • Klause: Random News - Star City to Ghost City: The fire that devastated our childhoods. ICYMI, a huge fire broke out in Star City in Pasay earlier this morning, leaving our souls crushed. The blaze started in the amusement park’s stuffed toys and prizes stockroom, according to the city’s fire marshal Paul Pili. In devastating aftermath photos shared by Pasay City Command, Control, Communication and Information Center, our childhood playground can be seen visibly destroyed – from the food court to the Star Flyer rollercoaster (https://wethepvblic.com/star-city-fire/#.XZRes-czYXo).

II. Wellness Week Updates - STRAW and SAC
  • Mikha: Today there’s the Mary K tutorial then tomorrow for spa day (mostly personnel and some students). Then for Zumba day, since stand making I will make E-dance go and okay na naman.
  • Andi: Mural is up! Please ask your batch mates to fill it in. And free-coffee today and it was successful naman. Tomorrow HIV test we just need to give them lunch and then Dog Day there will be 5 dogs and 1 cat (that’s up for adoption). Then we will also have therapy dogs from an org here in UP. That’s it naman. Then Pub will be out for dog day and HIV testing later.

III. SE Games Updates - SAC
  • Mikha: Final venue: DAR Covered Gym and it’s for October 19 (8-12nn) and 27 (1-4pm). Then final sports are basketball (male and female), volleyball, dodge ball, and patintero. Then the bridge baka not in the venue nalang before SE games gaganapin.  Abang nalang batch reps sa roster ng players.

IV. Diwa Updates - STRAW
  • Andi: So as of now we have 8 professionals and then my core’s going to start calling so we’re aiming for more para we can fill timeslots. For peer counseling naman, I talked to OCG, they have a buddy system na pala. So, people who signed up for the program will have a senior partner (if younger). I sent them a letter asking if we could formally take part in that program. Once they approve, I’ll release an online form. And I hope council could sign up so we can have the chance to help the constituents.
  • Je: Seniors lang ba puwede yung buddy?
  • Andi: No naman pero parang kailangan upper batch with a lower batch.
  • Je: But what if someone is looking for a buddy from the upper level? The pair ba will undergo rin training?
  • Andi: Parang yes both with the other one I’ll double check. Then ASEO pala will partner with the mental health workshop, is BRA g? So, I can divide the work between us.
  • Shin: g Naman kami
  • Andi: Sige, then the admin naman we’re gonna ask admin if they want to undergo a mental health sensitivity training. I just need to wait for ma’am magno cause she’s out of the country.
  • Josh: If you need rooms pala I can lend tita stella’s room. If you need help I can help you with the logistics of diwa.
  • Andi: Okay thank you!

V. NYC Updates - EdRes
  • Vina: Last Sunday we welcomed 29 interns and thanks sa council na nagsign-up (Andi, Zion, and Reg). Late reg opened now so we currently have 21 schools (14 to go). Tapos, we will open applications on Sunday for team leaders and facis. Our decision is those who were not accepted sa intern apps, facis na sila. We are intensifying na the efforts to get food sponsors. Then dapat this week yung org fair pero moved to next week since di pa na sign ni ma’am Magno. There was a miscommunication lang pero it’s set na for next week.
  • Josh: Di ba may requirement for food fair?
  • Vina: Yeah once a year lang so bawal na tayo.
  • Andi: what’s the difference between the food fair and the one EM did?
  • Vina: It’s the same pero we used kasi SESC’s name.
  • Je: Question pala, so food fair is just here in Econ?
  • Vina: Yeah same concessionaires lang as NES actually.
  • Je: so yung sa BSO for the whole UP yun?
  • Vina: yes
  • Je: ah so one academic year siya per org?
  • Vina: Yes
  • Jaro: Manifest ko lang, I allowed them cause kapos rin sila and because they really need the food sponsorship so it’s like our help na rin to them.
  • Josh: Is that it? Okay next na.

VI. Finance Literacy Talk Updates - EdRes
  • Vina: Updates lang, dapat yung first ED is with Ecosoc pero nagkaron ng changes so it will be with UPIC and its about financial literacy. Tapos, tuloy on October 10, partnership with Fin and ASEO so we are incharge of programs and logistics. Sa programs, there are 2 confirmed speakers for banking and budgeting (Andoy Beltran), investing (pending), and Insurances (Ms. April Dizon from Sunlife). For partners, ASEO and JFA. Again, 4-6pm siya on October 10 required council and council polo.
  • Je: Sa mga may conflicts tell nalang Vina and Jv.
  • Vina: Pati sa 24 required ah. (another talk)
  • Je: Council kumuha speakers?
  • Vina: Yes. IC yung PR and external relations.

VII. Stand-Making Updates - Econ Rep. to the USC
  • Je: Di pa tayo umaabot ng 100. 93 siya tho, pa help nalang. Our minimum is 120 and ideal is 150. So I will be PM-ing again and if you have tapped someone na di pa nagaanswer please bump nalang. I ask my core din naman to resend. So far, okay yung distribution. I’ll still ask grad students for their thoughts. For you guys, please go through the responses and go through manifestations. Yes, may weight yugn responses but in the stand-making it doesn’t mean you repeat that sa stand making. We have to build upon the action, resolutions, and all those when we disscuss the content for the stand.. So again Friday siya, at 4:30pm. I will be presenting the responses and a quick DG on it.

VIII. Finance Updates
  • Jaro: So, I will just remind you guys na on Friday is the deadline for submitting rummages. Remind your core nalaang about it. (1pm on Friday). 50 pesos per piece na penalty. 1pm since we will fix it na with my core. Yun lang naman.
  • Josh: Give items that are usable naman.
  • Je: What time on Saturday?
  • Josh: 6am call time here in econ. We have to be there by 7. Yun kasi yung peak.

IX. Alay Sa Personnel Updates - Sec
  • JV: so tomorrow is Alay, Jaro and Vina will host, Opening Remarks from Josh, 3 games: trip to Jerusalem, Cookie Game, Pinoy Henyo
  • JV: may pakain, pancit and lumpia, … Orallo is making a video tonight to be shown, it’s not the usual students saying thank you but it’s more for them since we realized na there’s more reaction if it’s focused more on them.
  • JV: thanks to Maui for the x-deals, sobrang dami and sobrang ganda… I also bought tokens (travel utensils)
  • JV: It’s from 12-1 so please support, SE 104.
  • Shin: kailangan council shirt?
  • JV: No naman. It’s just nice if council’s there para Makita tayo
  • Reg: may ASEO na pupunta
  • JV: yes, ok. Thank you to ASEO for helping out sa Alay. Their contrib will go to food.
  • Josh: sana makapunta lahat

X. Econ @ Work Updates - MAR
  • Maui: October 7 na siya and we rescheduled for the bus na. May pub na last night and please continue sharing nalang since 5 lang yung responses. We asked Ma’am Epetia for incentives, nagoo na siya verbally but we are waiting for the email confirmation.
  • Josh: You can print a letter then give it to them. Anyways, so may questions?
  • Je: So you payed for rescheduling not the bus?
  • Maui: Yes not the whole cost. 1k yung rescheduling.
  • Je: Sasama ba si Tito Bobby?
  • Maui: he’ll see daw.
  • Je: Is it open to grad students?
  • Maui: Yes some signed up. Tsaka this is required.  Then yung NEDA econ @ work, tentative November 11. Not November 4 cause long weekend.
  • Je: I think you guys should sense that pa rin.

XI. Council Shoot - M&P
  • Orallo: So yung shoot I was planning on October 7 or 14 the thing is if after BSP tas may NSTP sila. So October 14 nalang.
  • Dylan: We have exam on the 15th
  • Jv: Picture lang naman yun.
  • Je: I might have an exam on the day itself baka humabol nalang ako.
  • Josh: Saturday or Monday lang naman.
  • Reg: May make up class 151 sa 14.
  • Pat: May exam kami sa 12.
  • Josh: Possible dates:
    • October 7- 1
    • October 14- 11
    • October 19- 6
    • October 21-
    • Okay so October 14.
  • Andi: Baka puwede morning?
  • Josh: Kailangan kumpleto tayo. This will be at Camera cart for 2 hours, 5-7pm. Yung pegs let’s vote or you want online nalang? Next GA we will decide on the theme, just make a thread of of themes.

XII. Midsemester Evaluations - Vice-Chairperson
  • Reg: So October 18 is our midsem evals tapos, we wil post the schedule if ever pero for sure it’s gonna be here in Manila.
  • Josh: Either Jv’s or Mario’s house.
  • Reg: Tapos kinabukasan SE games siya. I will explain lang our expectations seryosong usapan siya usually 4-5 hours. Last year yun yung matagal since mahaba yung evals. First is external, Second, is Core evals, and Third is internal evals. So we will evaluate ourselves, each other and our happiness here in council. I will give you guys 10 days to answer the form. Advise ko is take it seriously since it is the performance of the council. Di puwede na wala kang ilagay. So please take these seriously. Usually it takes 20-30 mins to answer the form. And no N/A answers please. By today, let’s reflect on the performance for council.
  • Jv: I’m the one in charge of external evals… quota is per batch, I wanna see everyone working to get the responses. Since we want to see how they view council, our project and initiatives and how we can improve. Let’s do at least half, if not more than half especially juniors and seniors to have everyone answer it… I will release it after Alay…
  • (extended 2 mins)
  • JV: deadline for it October 14 Monday… that gives you this weekend, next week, and next weekend. Tapos kailangan pa i-collate
  • Reg: 14 din ako for internal evals
  • Josh: ako din for core evals. We added rin a part to see how your core’s view on council and your work.
  • Zion: How about for us?
  • Josh: Haraya team lang.
  • Je: Question, puwede istart niyo yung collecting after econsult?
  • Jv: Sige kahit start on Saturday.
  • Josh: I just want to stress the importance of midsem evals and we have the rest of the sem and next sem to improve. You guys will have a report card that will help you reflect on your work. If there’s something you read na you don’t like, don’t take it personally nalang cause we do this to improve. Please don’t put talaga N/A when you evaiulate a person
  • Reg: Baka puwede kalmado comments.
  • Josh: yun lang naman.

XIII. Other Matters
  • Maui: So we have 2 donations coming up for Bakwit schools (Friday)  and the books (October 11).  We need 4 sets of 2 notebooks, pencils, and ballpens then for books we need 25 books.
  • Josh: Before we leave, 50 pesos each for the school supplies. Tapos the books let’s just think about that next week.
  • Je: Tapos for tonight, we have a special GA sa USC about councilor santos regarding the leaks. Last Saturday, the action steps proposed was inline with the constitution. There was a fact finding team to try to find evidence. Then councilor santos will present proof of non-involvement tonight. COFS is planning to have a manifesto of unity for all orgs and there will be sensitivity talks conducted. That’s it for the issue. As for the others, DRW will start their plan na. Open na rin yung appeals for acacia. Yun lang.
  • Maui: Ano yung updates sa BOR?
  • Je: wala pa pero pinagusapan last BOR meeting but we have yet to meet with Ice
  • Reg: Tanong ko lang ano yung stand ng USC regarding the issue na it violates data privacy act (the leaks)?
  • Je: For me valid issue yun. If we raise it in that framing, we have to treat both separately since they are different issues but if he presents that it won’t negate his involvement. Ginawa kasi ng USC it’s an issue on FRV and not data privacy.
  • Reg: for those cases we can negate the whole act kasi using that whole argument. Negate in a sense na di valid ang pag-reason out yung council.
  • Je: di valid yung magiging evidence na iprepresent. I’ll raise that and I’ll make sure if that argument is brought up it will be brought up sa USC.
  • Maui: Non-involvement sa leaks or sa FRV?
  • Je: I have to clarify pero sa house rules it says if any affiliation is involved in an act of violence but that can be a valid angle (sa FRV). Tapos for the statement, we were supposed to release after the USC GA last sat so that the statements team is well informed of the issue prior to the statement. But with the circumstances, I think we can realign the statement for this with National Mental Health Week since I believe the SESC maintains the welfare of its constituents, in all aspects whether it's their safety on campus or their mental health. We can do this rather than making a statement directly on the issue, which I feel is difficult to do considering the context.
  • Josh: Okay na? Andi next
  • Andi: I posted on the partnership page the invite on national mental health month. It will be a talk on October 25, 5:30-7pm and we need 3 attendees.
  • Josh: Don’t we have mental health workshop?
  • Andi: Can we still move it?
  • Jv: Yeah puwede naman.
  • Andi: It doesn’t say where yet pero yeah we need 3.
  • Je: Last lang, suggestion to add next agenda point next GA since wala sa plansem yung Freshie batch reps their plans for the sem.
