- Local: Isnilon Hapilon and leader Omar Maute group killed in Marawi but gun fight still continues
- UP: largest number of UPCAT test takers this Saturday and Sunday; expect heavy traffic
- Random: Boston Celtics Hayward dislocates ankle in game against Cleveland Cavaliers
2. Midsemester Evaluations c/o Paje & Howie (5 mins)
- Howie: On Friday, we will leave UPSE by 5:30pm since the 198 exam was moved to Monday not Friday. We’ll leave as soon as Louise gets out of class. Please be on time. Let’s start as soon as possible, around 6-6:30pm.
- Howie: For Internal Evals, good job since everyone got to answer it. Paje will be making the report cards.
- Howie: For External evals, good job too since we all reached our quotas of 50+ per batch.
- Howie: For core evals, there are some core members who have not answered so please follow it up. As much as possible, let’s try to complete it today since it’s our first time doing it.
- Ian: What’s the needed mindset for Midsem Evals?
- Howie: Keep an open mind since there will be a lot of feedback from the UPSE community and an open heart since we need to remind ourselves of why we are here
3. MARC Updates c/o Cams (c/o Howie) (5 mins)
- Howie: Econ @ Work on October 23. Going: Jackie, Paje, Gelo, Je, Steph, Louise, Jolo, Cams, Kayla, Theresa*. For those going, please fill up the RSVP form in the post. Attire is smart casual.
- Howie: Call time is at 11am in the bust. The pub will be released later, so please share to show support for this partnership with OBEM.
- Gelo: A lot of freshies are going since it’ll help them start thinking about their career opportunities.
- Howie: Okay, please tell them to sign up in the RSVP form so they get counted.
- Ian: How will transpo work? • Howie: I still have to ask Cams about that.
- Howie: USC Finagaling on October 25, Wednesday. Since it’s our GA, we don’t need to send a rep anymore. We just need to share the pub.
- Howie: Whiteboard sessions partnership with UPIC. The venue has been moved to MyPlace function hall since it’ll be traffic during the UPCAT. It’s at 1-4PM. Date TBA.
- *Je arrives 5:27*
- Bets: My original plan was to invite kids and grandkids of personnel. Sent invitation already but when I asked how many will participate, Tita Marcy said not a lot. Final headcount by tomorrow and if it reaches 10, we’ll push through.
- Howie: Small initiatives and staple Alay is more effective since the personnel are already in UPSE and these initiatives are really geared towards them as a show of our appreciation for their work.
- Betina: Also, October birthdays UPSElebrants are done being greeted.
- Josh: DIWA: Mental Health Open Consultations next week. There are 8 confirmed consultants. There are 66 respondents. I went to the UP Health Services and PAB today. We’re working double time to get more contacts. OCG isn’t sure since it’s UPCAT this wekeend and some are going to Tacloban starting Monday. Since it’s first come first serve, our back up plan is to text those who we cannot accommodate that we couldn’t grant them a slot.
- Howie: Try asking the consultants if they can accommodate the rest the week after.
- Josh: I was supposed to have a meeting with Ma’am Kraft awhile ago regarding the parking, whiteboard markers, library etiquette, classrooms for DIWA, Magna Carta and the COMPLAB printing service. but she had an emergency meeting with Dean.
- Howie: What about the back parking?
- Josh: The garbage truck is already taking out the trash to prepare for the asphalting of the back.
- Josh: Capuno, Magno, Bautista and Arcenas have replied to the lobbying for the Magna Carta. Capuno said that he won’t be able to discuss with us. Arcenas is game to discuss. Bautista has a lot of contentions.
6. STATA/R Seminar Contingency Updates c/o Kayla & Louise (5 mins)
- Kayla: It’s pushing through next week, Tuesday. 4:30-6pm at SE 125 and 127. Francis said that he’ll be free but we’ll confirm on Friday to be sure. Do you have anyone you can recommend?
- Howie: Paolo Bognot can for R. How are your attendees?
- Kayla: I know people who are going, but I think they don’t want to RSVP.
- Ian: The 131 people are the ones who need it most.
- Howie: you can message people personally with the link since it proved to be effective with our Midsem Evals.
- Ian: You should brig it as well.
- Ian: Tomorrow, there will be a 4-sem rule technical working team meeting. The statements team, Iyla, Yana, and Louise are going at 12pm in the Council room. The results of Econsult will be discussed (common threads, opinions etc) then we’ll work on our game plan. I’ll post it tonight so we can all go through it. The target is to submit something by the end of October. What do you guys think of making a position paper as our first step?
- Howie: Ma’am Magno actually suggested it last year since she was the chairperson of the Undergrad Committee. You can talk to her about continuing the campaign after class since she knows about it already.
- Josh: When is the date we’ll be giving the paper?
- Ian: I plan to give it around October 31 to Ma’am Magno first.
- Howie: She was the first one Jem talked to about it last year so until then, it’ll be discussed with the rest of the professors/admin.
- Ian: I’ll meet with my core tomorrow about it.
- Iyla: First, thank you for signing up for NYC. Ate Monina Sanchez from PCC messaged me asking us to share a PCC Video-making contest open to college students (up to groups of 3) with a cash prize of 30k, 20k for 2nd place and 10k for 3 Wednesday, 18 October 2017 3rd place. We can share it through our page and the batch group. There is also an essay-writing contest we can share once it’s released.
- Howie: Share it later when people are online.
- Joaquin: For the bulletin board, please make sure the core names are complete since we’ll be putting it on the board. For Lantern Parade, we’ve started brainstorming. We’ll be working with my core, and the cores of MARC, SAC, USC Rep, Internals and Head office for the pub ideas and execution.
- Howie: I need help bumping the front parking concerns. If ever, we’ll have to be the one to bring it up. We need to draft a letter for the signatures, so we can give it to President Danicon.
