*Meeting ended 6:37 pm*
- GA Tidbits c/o House Lansisters
- Local: New UN reports say that 13.7 million Pinoys malnourished
- UP News: UP beats Adamson at UAAP Basketball
- International: Chinese TV station apologizes for showing world map that does not include Taiwan
- Random News: Miley Cyrus found out that she is pansexual when she visited an LGBTQ center in L.A.
- Alumni Homecoming
- Kiss: As you all know, next Saturday is the alumni homecoming. So, in this homecoming, we'll honor Balisacan, Pernia, Diokno, Ramon Lopez, and Leni Robredo. What will happen is we will be having a special number care of the UPSE students. After that, doon na sila ire-recognize. During the party, there will also be an election of the new officers of UPSEAA
- Five will be in-charge with registration. One to two people will man the ballot box. I still have to wait for the clear program flow from Tita Rose.
- Reminders: When we post the publicity materials, please share it. You can also tag UPSE alumni and let's invite all the alumni. There's free admission from Batch 2016-2014 and current students.
- Pat: Are we gonna be needed for ingress?
- Kiss: On there end naman, meron naman silang manpower for that. Kailangan lang talaga ng students for the elections of UPSEAA. *Paje arrives 4:42pm*
- Those who won't go: Comendador
- Carlos: We need to find a way to urge both SEAC and UPSE people to go, so Pat and the batch reps, please help in disseminating this event.
- Kiss: We'll be selling merchandise. The first one is a t-shirt requested by the alumni, especially by Batch 1991.
- Consensus: Set the t-shirt to Php300
- Joel: The problem now is how to distribute the sizes from the supplier. This is from the E-Store merchandise. The first option is to set up an order form, although they won't receive it on the day itself. Are there any suggestions for this?
- Carlos: What we can do is have a stock, and if may kulang, they can order on the spot and we can ship it to them with an additional fee.
- Joel: I think okey rin yung sa may delivery para alam talaga natin yung sizes. *Quimbo steps out 4:55pm*
- Consensus: We order the excess orders, and deliver it to the alumni, if ever they want to have more merchandise.
- Carlos: How are we going to finance the other events that we have, taking into consideration the merchandise sale?
- Joel: We're going to have IGPs and the other receivables from the previous E-Store
- Lantern Parade
- Kiss: We're at the process of finishing the mechanics of the lantern parade design contest. We also decided to shortlist three lantern designs.
- Howie: When's the deadline for the contest?
- Kiss: November 4
- Carlos: I guess maybe it's not wise to use the standard of the past two Lantern Parades since it's the 50th year of UPSE, so given they want the truck again, I guess we have to build a lantern with those constraints.
- Tin: Pwede ba natin i-reuse yung base?
- Kiss: No, since naibenta na siya ng administration.
- Kiss: The total budget for this is Php60,000
- 10k from alumni
- 20k from admin
- and 30k is from the winnings of Manulife competition, from Sir Arcenas
- Howie: Kung gusto ng mga designers na merong sariling base na mas malaki, we can ask them to do the design with the budget in mind.
- Consensus: We'll find other means kung saan pwedeng ipatong yung design and focus on the design of the lantern itself. But we won't drag it.
- Electives 101
- Kevin: Sa speakers, meron kaming 5: Allan Solacito, Carlos Cabaero, David Baldivia, Kiss Sanchez, Rio Dayao and other non-sure speakers: Jeryl Abong, Francis Endrinal, Jonathan Vegamora, Emil Apostol, Renzo Racadio, Flor Alvarez
- Carlos: For Philo, pwede si Miguel Ventura, Ryan Jacob; for Math, Mike Buenaventura; for Languages, si Alfonso Roces; for Pol Sci, Dale Lim and Kaia Camomot;
- Let's help find a speaker na lang for CHE
- Kevin: For the primer, okay na since konti lang 'yung changes. Okay na rin yung program since last week. This is on November 8.
- BRA Outreach
- Jackie: 'Yung BRA Outreach, Habitat for Humanity said that it's their first build as an organization. If we do it as BRA Outreach, baka ma-brand siya as BRA Outreach instead of being their first build. So what they said is that there will be two builds: One exclusive for Habitat, and the other in partnership with Council. They told me that in the afternoon, it's exclusive for UPSE. *Quimbo returns 5:15pm*
- Trina: It's gonna be held at the Bistekville IV, Quezon City
- There will be a simultaneous community development, which is like immersion. On the build, we have to pay for the materials. It's gonna be Php250 per person. Pwede rin na if meron silang multi-purpose hall, we can have an outreach there. I'd just like to know if we want to have an immersion only or kasama rin 'yung program.
- Carlos: Tin is asking how we can incentivize people to go to the BRA Outreach?
- Trina: I was thinking if we can ask for Ecosoc CDC Counts.
- Trina: I asked Marianne if we should bring food, but they don't encourage it, kasi baka magselos raw yung iba. But for the program, I think we can do that
- Jackie: We're planning na this week makapag start na kami ng IGPs.
- Consensus: We will proceed with the short program and immersion
- NYC and Kapekonomiya
- Jem: For NYC, not much difference from last week. The real update is the start of the facilitators training. What Dale needs from Council is the final list of those who would be able to volunteer. Kailangan pwede on both days of NYC.
- Those who can make it on both days: Paje, Morada, Guingon, Lobo, Sanchez, Ortiz, Sales, Quimbo, Comendador
- Carlos: Please keep in mind that this is a partnership with Ecosoc, so sana marami pa ring people na pwede
- Jem: Later tonight, I wil post the size charts of the volunteer shirts. I'll tag you guys na rin, and I'll confirm with Dale and Tricia the sizes
- Jem: For Kape, MOA na lang for Alaska, and we're asking UPSE admin if Reyes Barbecue can sell at the event.
- Jem: Our partners are NCPAG SC, Ecosoc, Alyansa, Kaisa, and one minor org partner. We're still follwing up with USC, STAND UP, and the SEAC orgs.
- Jem: Wala pa ring nagco-confirm until now na speakers. But right now, okay na rin naman lahat except for the speakers. For Pub, I talked to Yna about it since medyo malapit na rin.
- Jem: For NYC, not much difference from last week. The real update is the start of the facilitators training. What Dale needs from Council is the final list of those who would be able to volunteer. Kailangan pwede on both days of NYC.
- Stata Seminar
- Aaron: Tentative date is October 19, 4:00 pm onwards at SE 123. Target speakers is Prof. Ducanes and Florentino. Tapos the approach will be consultation-style, and hopefully we can get more people to be people consultants. The pub will be done over the weekend.
- Consensus: Move the GA to October 21, 4:00 pm at Council Room.

- Alay sa Personnel
- Strengths
- Lem: Thank you for going to Alay sa Personnel, the Core appreciated the support
- Lem: The event was a success, the staff were very happy. Tita Judy finally knows me
- Points of improvement
- Lem: The program could've been better executed, but under the circumstances it was the best it could be. The team managed to give small tokens for everyone. We really lacked money and we had problems with collecting money, some orgs weren't willing to pitch in money for the event.
- Lem: The publicity could've been improved. I wasn't able to asikaso it because of locker #12.
- Lem: The event was okay, the sound system was a problem.
- Lem: Joel, I need the reimbursement. Thank you.
- Carlos: The program was really well done. Kiss: Galing nung hosts.
- Carlos: SEAC has been talking to us about how they wanted to be more involved in the planning, so that's a point of improvement.
- Carlos: It's an internal event and it's good for council branding to have publicity for it.
- Lem: Will we still have Alay sa Personnel next sem? Pat: Yes.
- Lem: My officers had a hard time with contacting SEAC. Pat: Next time ask help from me so I can help you with contacting. Carlos: Tell your Core that if they need help, they can always ask council.
- Josh: There were personnel that wasn't in the list. Carlos: In the next one, please ensure that all the staff is involved.
- Carlos: Next time please make the tokens uniform.
- Kiss: Do you think starting it a later time would be better to ensure that they're there? Lem: I discussed that with the team. We thought about having it during lunch or not. We discovered that some people already leave by 5, and the library ends their shift by 5. What we did was to save some food na lang for those in the library.
- Earl: Were the guards given food? Lem: Naubos na ng pizza, so we just gave them juice.
- STRAW Updates:
- Howie: STRAW Fair Evaluation.
- Good points:
- The NGOs were happy. Gumana kasi 'yung ticketing scheme, and they were incentivized to go.
- Marami talagang pumunta na students
- Bad points:
- It rained during the second day. Buti na lang pumayag si Ma'am Kraft na ilipat sila sa hallway.
- Autism Society Philippines didn't return on the second day. Since ayaw ni Ma'am Kraft na may nagbebenta ng merchandise. I think that's one of the reasons that they left early on the first day, and didn't return on the second day. Ipaalam na lang yung pagbebenta next time sa College Secretary.
- We sent partnership proposals late with organizations.
- Comments:
- Kiss: Do you think opening it to the university would be a good thing?
- Howie: Pwede rin.
- Carlos: Siguro 'yung planning lang with the SEAC Organizations. Also, with the window of shifts, since meron do'ng bakante. Let's make sure next time na filled silang lahat.
- Howie: Siguro next tiem for shifts, sana may quota na lang na kailangan nilang i-fill.
- Kiss: Do you think opening it to the university would be a good thing?
- Good points:
- Howie: STRAW Talk was originally schedule kahapon, but the Office for Counselling and Guidance recently. I asked speakers from the Philippine Mental Health Association Dr. Rayco and Dr. Bautista, from OCG. They're available naman on Tuesday, next week. Kailangan ko pala ng hosts.
- Consensus: Hosts will be Paje and Quimbo
- Howie: STRAW Fair Evaluation.
- IGPs and USC Planner distribution
- Joel: The problem with this is bi-benta ba talaga ito, since the minimum order 15 pcs. costing Php290, and we sell it for Php350.
- Gabbi: Late ba na-release yung planner?
- Chito: Oo, late na-release ng suppliers
- Those who are in favor of getting the planner: Balindong
- Those who are not in favor: Everyone except for Cabaero and Balindong
- Mid-sem Reminders
- Pat: Sana nakapag paalam na kayo for this Friday. Meet-up ng 4:30, alis ng 5:00 pm from the UPSE Bust. Please answer the Midsem eval form. Please answer it again sa mga naka-answer na ng first form, since wala pa si Paje d'on sa first one. Also let's encourage people to answer the external midsemester evaluation. Deadline ng lahat is tomorrow 12 noon.
- Stand-making and Issues
- Jem: Nabanggit sa SEAC meeting kanina is updating our stands: The stands are as follows:
- GE Reform
- UP SAIS implementation
- The Marcos Burial
- The Extrajudicial Killings plus the War on Drugs
- Mental Health
- Socialized Tution Scheme
- Carlos: Sana masama rin natin 'yung contractualization of labor.
- Jem: As for the form for the students, I'll try to do that ASAP.
- Carlos: Also, I think we can update our CARPER statements with Paeng Mariano's stance on agrarian reform.
- Jem: There's also how the De Lima case was handled from the start and the quality of education and how it affects historical revisionism with regard to Martial Law, and also nabanggit rin ni Chito yung island disputes. Those are the topics na hindi ko naisama initially.
- Chito: I think we can also include the EDCA.
- Carlos: i'm very okay with the historical revisionism. As for the De Lima, I think we can do a broader perspective para hindi siya direct mentioning kay De Lima.
- Kiss: Regarding island disputes, in apparently in China's historical books na matagal na raw ang Filipinos in that area. As such, pwede rin tayong humingi ng Free Market articles from history profs.
- Carlos: I think 'yung mga social issues, let's stick to Free Market for now, and for the others, saka tayo mag-labas ng statements.
- Jem: Nabanggit sa SEAC meeting kanina is updating our stands: The stands are as follows:
- Magna Carta
- Jem: If you were paying attention last night, the Law Student Government had a GA last night and they invited the USC about it. One of the major points they discussed was the Magna Carta. So there was a lot of talk about the Magna Carta for last night's GA, and they were live tweeting it. It stirred a lot of discussion and stuff, and one of the things that the LSG mentioned in their GA was that one of their councilors mentioned that should the USC fail to move for the Magna Carta, the LSG will move on its own. Since most of Econ voted for it, and given that, I think it's also our duty and responsibility to back up the LSG on their move that is pro-Magna Carta. Chito, Carlos, and I were considering what transpired last night, and with that we were talking on initiatives on how to support the LSG when it comes to forwarding the Magna Carta.
- Comments
- Chito: 'yung laging tinatapon na argument against that; super liit lang daw 'yung na-sample for the test compared to the population. Also sa USC, ang decision namin about Magna Carta is that there will be a mandatory review about the Magna Carta and its contentious parts.
- Ortiz: Kasi I feel that ipa-forward sa USC na they are quite passive on the Magna Carta. I think we can also do a group discussion on Econ about this.
- Carlos: We're having an LCC GA next Friday. If Council is okay with fighting for the Magna Carta, then I'll represent Econ there. Or we can volunteer to host the LCC GA here next Friday. Do we want to fight for Magna Carta?
- Consensus: We are for Magna Carta.
