- Summary of the Meeting:
- GA Tidbits c/o House Lansisters
- Local: Malacañang downplays Moody's warning
- UP News: UPD tops October 2016 Board Exams for CPA
- International: MH370 spiralled out of control before crash, reports say
- Random News: Taylor Swift borrows Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool costume; there's also a brand-new version of the PPAP song
- Lantern Parade
- Earl: May problem sa contest, since hindi raw nila alam na pwede pala ang group submission for the Lantern Parade contest, as long as merong Econ student sa group. Also, sa contingency plan namin, is to get Bruno Santos or Kiss' alumni friend.
- Kiss: So far, ang pinaka-active so far ay si Lean Cacatian in this. Our goal is to have at least two submissions for this.
- Carlos: I think by now, Earl, we should start writing letters for profs para makapagbigay tayo agad. This is to encourage them to give incentives to students. Also Kiss, talk to UPSEAA na on how to encourage them to go to the Lantern Parade. And Tin, please coordinate with Paje regarding the plans for our publicity, mainly the profile pictures.
- Earl: May idea ako for the incentives system. May stamp per station. Since magkaiba yung shape nung stamps, then check attendance per station.
- Carlos: If I remember correctly, I think what happened last year was have rubber bands instead in four stations, then sign out after sa lobby. If we can conceptualize a better way for that, then let's talk to Paje about it.
- Magna Carta updates
- Jem: We're gonna move our ED to November 15
- Carlos: We have STATA seminar on that day.
- Consensus: Tentative is November 16.
- Jem: We plan to have more of a consultation type thing, with Atty. Garcia, who attended the ED of USC and LSG. We want to invite her to address some questions of the student body and give more context to the Magna Carta. So siguro, depende na lang on the date.
- Carlos: Also, there will be a meeting tomorrow between the LSG and Magna Carta VolCorps. We were invited to go.
- Jem: We're gonna move our ED to November 15
- Open Consultation check-ups
- Carlos: So we had our first day of open consultation. How was it?
- Aaron: I think it's more of reaching out to them (with regard to the location of the booth).
- Carlos: I think it would be best to have just a few people lang sa booth, then the rest go around na to the orgs. Maybe we can do that tomorrow, with just two people lang sa booth. In behalf of SEAC we'll get the available times na pwede natin silang i-consult, care of Howie.
- Tin: So I talked with 5 people from OBEM. Everything was okay naman, they said that we were visible, friendly and approachable. Sobrang love rin nila yung Mental Health, since sobrang wala pa raw naginitiate na ganon'g event. Gusto rin nila si Kiss because of the event services partnership, since na-feel nila na gusto ng Council maka-help with OBEM. Na-feel rin daw ni Gio Martin na approachable ang batch reps. So for the bad points, ang pinaka hindi raw approachable sa council ay si Paje, as said by his batchmates. Individually raw friendly tayo, pero si Paje raw yung least friendly. Sa pub, sana better usage talaga sa bulletin board. Sabi nila na okay rin daw yung grievance form natin, since nakakahiya minsan na mag-approach ng Council. They also said na hindi raw sila na-invite maging org partner for Social Entrepreneurship. Least favorite event daw nila is yung Acquaintance Party, since naging cliquish yung vibe.
- Carlos: Siguro, we can go back to SEAC and involve them in better publicizing it.
- Gabbi: So for ETC, good points include very good raw yung services ng Council. Okay rin mag-brig yung mga batch reps. Very good rin daw yung initiatives ng Council, like mental health. Also, very relatable din daw ang mga council members, with the slow transition from cliquish behaviour to that. As for Acquaintance, since konti lang yung um-attend, hindi nila masyadong na-feel. Nabanggit rin na basketball-centric ang Schoolympics. Gawa sana ng poster containing all Council Services and put it in the bulletin board. Also, sana mag-go out tayo sa shell natin. Mas maganda raw na magkaroon ng campaigns na Econ-centric.
- Aaron: IN general, sabi ng nakausap ko, very relevant ang Council natin. Compared to other councils, hindi raw sila efficient. Super relevant rin daw ng Mental Health talk natin. For social issues, people are looking for initiatives, and more of action-based activities, so that we can do something to help. Many people are interested in environmental issues. Yung sa minutes and financial statements, sana raw better pub for it. They also mentioned something about the bulletin board in filling it up. Solid naman overall yung event natin, though niched siya. For services, so far solid naman, including the bidets and first-aid kit, though hindi sila masyadong aware with projector rentals and general service agreements. They commented about parking, and water station outside the Lounge. May nagbanggit rin na magkaroon ng ibang concessionaires for the Lounge. Someone also suggested in having longer working and serving hours. As for visibility and approachability, people think that we are, though hindi masyadong feel yung authority. Super approachable rin daw ng batch reps. Comment for pub is that yung ibang events, wala siyang sariling identity, since generic or by template. Okay daw ang DearSTRAW, but also we have to build relationships with people, since sometimes, it's better to talk to them.
- Carlos: Some tutorials were not covered. Also, the bulletin board is not properly utilized. Also for counselling, I think we can talk to some Psych students. There were also talks of having a book club. There was also one that commented that we should execute all our ideas, but to do that, we have to do more IGPs
- Carlos: So we had our first day of open consultation. How was it?
- Social Entrepreneurship
- Emira: We need one more host. Also, to print certificates and buy tokens of appreciation, and one or more laptops for attendance and CDC counts.
- *Sanchez agreed to be host, Ronsayro to print the certificates, and Licup to buy the tokens*
- Emira: Also, please wear council shirts! Ingress will be 4:00 pm at SE 125.
- STRAW Updates
- Howie: So for the donations, may nagbigay ng damit sa baba, though hindi ko alam kung kanino ibibigay.
- Kiss: We'll just give it to Anna na Cagayan
- Howie: Also for the medicines of First-Aid Kit, I dropped by the pharmacy sa UHS, though hindi kumpleto and kulang-kulang 'yung meds. Maghahanap na lang ako ng ibang lugar. As for the mental health article sa Free Market, Aaron Sta. Maria will be writing it. I told him na if kaya by the weekend, sana magawa. For the backparking, since a lot of people are asking for the guidelines. I'll find it pa. And also for batch reps, please brig na last day na today yung ESF for additional classes.
- Howie: So for the donations, may nagbigay ng damit sa baba, though hindi ko alam kung kanino ibibigay.
- EdRes Update
- Jem: For Kape, strong points include na maraming pumunta, also that almost all of SEAC partnered with us. For me, parang okay naman yung event with the program and speakers. I think weakness include improving the system of incentives; I think magulo yung nangyari sa end of the program. Another weakness includes the division of work, because I felt that a lot of the work was handled by Council. Also, we could've find a better way to condense the event to end before 6:30pm. The day before, we found out that Sir Jandoc was interested in speaking, but hindi kami na-inform so kulang yung economic aspect sa Kapekonomiya.
- Kiss: I think we can find media organizations as partners.
- Jem: I think may pagkukulang sa part ng team.
- Gabbi: Siguro for next Kape na lang, sana hindi siya maoverlook since nadidiscuss nga yung economic aspect.
- Carlos: I think it was a good idea to open the Kape team to the entire of Econ. I think we could improve it by clearer work allocations. Feeling ko na mas helpful na tutok kayo sa mga directors niyo. Also, I think we can talk to ETC to remove the part of student reactors, since it gives more time for the talk and open forum. I guess the key is making Kape feel like a great and big thing.
- Jem: For updates ng NYC, they weren't able to release the full speakers list. First speaker is Farmer Jon, then Sir Esguerra, the professor Haydarien, then Mar Roxas. Also, everything is going smoothly, though Jena Fernandez hasn't wired the money yet. For the Free Market, yesterday, we had a double release of articles. The first article was written by David Baldivia-- he validated each presidential candidate of the US. The second article was written by Jonathan Vegamora, about how Trump was a slightly better candidate than Clinton. There was an issue since it's controversial, and that one of the concerns is that a lot of people that were attacking the Free Market, the writer, and the SESC. I think we can just put a blatant advisory sa articles ng Free Market.
- Consensus: To set hard limits on articles, but for the others, allow it.
- Jem: For Kape, strong points include na maraming pumunta, also that almost all of SEAC partnered with us. For me, parang okay naman yung event with the program and speakers. I think weakness include improving the system of incentives; I think magulo yung nangyari sa end of the program. - Fin Updates
- Joel: I'll be bringing containers for rummage-ables. Also, siningil rin tayo ng PHp1000 ng OVCCA for the permit of giving out samples in CSSP, though pinayagan tayo ng CSSP. Bernadette Olbes has the receipt for this. We're going to release a pre-order form for milk tea. On November 26 will be our rummage sale date, though I'll have to confirm it pa.
- SAC Updates
- Earl: Plan ko 'to continue the basketball on November 10 or 14, since impossible makalaro yung iba ng gabi, 10-12nn. If may alam kayong court ng volleyball; sa Maginahawa kasi, merong PE session ng kindergarten and bawal pag weekend.
- Carlos: How can we continue our arts and culture?
- Earl: About that, I'm gonna interview JR Yambao because he has a restaurant, so I plan to have someone to create a restaurant write-up
- Earl: Magkakaroon rin ng sign-ups for DilGames.
- Lem: I think we can have a cultural night that includes movies and book club, perhaps.
- Jem: I think we can have like a book shelf na everyone can just borrow stuff and read them.
- Carlos: There was one more suggestion kanina, since meron daw tayong connection with Gallerie Joaquin. So maybe Earl and Kiss can arrange something for arts and culture.
- BRA Outreach
- Jackie: So far, oks na yung program. 12-12:30pm is the gathering at Econ. 12:30-1:00 is our travel time. 1:00 is brief introduction from us. 1:05 to 2:05 is pakain and discussion groups; may naka-assign naman na batch reps na naka-assign dito. For the DGs, may naka-prepare naman na DG guide questions for us. Magkakaroon rin ng house tours care of Habitat for Humanity. There will also be a small interview regarding the visit in the middle of the program. Marianne suggested that instead of having DGs, magkaroon na lang ng individual DGs within the houses, but we feel that people will feel detached from this.
- Jem: For me, I don’t think mafa-follow yung time schedule
- Jackie: According to Trina, may 16 attendees na from outside Council.
- Carlos: I think pa-emphasize na lang yung incentives for this, and batch reps, just brig na lang ito through long brigs.
- Jackie: Also, Kiss, kamusta pala yung org partnerships?
- Kiss: Wala pa naman, except that OBEM has declined because of their TradeOff with Ateneo.
- Electives 101
- Gabbi: Nakapag-send na kami ng reservation letter for the room. It was done by Bets. For pub, na-check na ni Tin and overall, okay naman na. Kulang na lang ng speaker for Stat; we'll try to talk with Jeryl Abong.
- Carlos: If ever, magkakaroon ba tayo ng pub for speakers?
- Gabbi: Yes
- Gabbi: If ever, okay lang bang mag-pub on Saturday for Electives 101?
- Tin: Pwede naman.
- Gabbi: It will be on November 8, with about 5 minutes per speaker, with each speaker na may question and answer.
