THREATS
Thank you, Haqq and Kyla + M&P Team! The recweek would not have been successful if it were not for you.
SoBR Gia enters 5:39 PM.
[Motion] Shin: Motion to extend by two minutes.
Mario: I second the motion.
Haqq: Clarification lang. Regarding sa IG page natin, we can now schedule ‘yong posts pero we weren’t able to do that nung recweek kasi diba kaka-turn over lang sa amin ni Mitch ng IG page kaya hindi namin siya agad na-connect sa interface ng post scheduling feature ng IG.
Andi: I also want to commend M&P and Mitch. Sobrang ganda ng theme and ng mga posts. I think it’s reflective rin of the number of people we’ve reached online.
Econ Week Updates (c/o Vice Chair) - 10 min
We already posted our Econ Week DP, Cover Photo, teaser, and organizing body pubs. Nakatanggap tayo ng mga papuri mula sa mga alumni dahil sa creativity ng mga pubs natin simula pa lang sa color scheme.

Organizing Body pubs
What we need from you.
Today is March 17, may teaser na lalabas laters so please support. Also, every batch ay may theme sa countdown pubs before Econ Week kaya we’ll be coordinating with the batches and M&P for the pubs.
March 22-28 ay Econ Week natin mismo. Mababalewala ‘yong effort ng M&P and Econ week team if hindi natin ‘to ishe-share.
Please utilize our Masterfile.
Magkakaroon rin tayo ng ECON WEEK video care of M&P and core.
If may problem and concers tayo rito, please coordinate with the right officer in charge na lang para we have unity of command/direction.
Thank you to OB and SESC. I hope maging successful ‘yong Econ Week natin. Ngayon puro teasers tayo kaya please share guys! Next week need talaga natin maging mas active kasi that’s when we need people to comment na.
Thank you!
Councilor Jaro enters 5:53 PM.
[Motion] Mario: Motion to extend by 5 minutes.
EJ: I second the motion.
Haqq: For the Econ week video, si Kyla ang gagawa.
Mitch: Okay ba ang March 20 for consulting of the video?
Kyla: 21 sana if kaya.
Mitch: Okay lang! For sure, wala na rin masyadong magiging problems with it.
Andi: For the freshies and sophies, please share the page of Econ Week sa mga batches niyo.

Elections
Mario: I think with regards to the results of the sampling size, more or less we reached 50% naman.
Mitch: Sa turnout ng votes, I think we can control that naman. Kaya naman natin gawan ng paraan in that aspect just to make sure na those who can vote will vote.
Mario: I think it’s not just motivation ‘yong problem ng iba pero ‘yong accessibility talaga.
Mitch: If ever ba, ilang days ia-allot natin for the elections?
Andi: Depends on the guidelines for the rules ng USC elections. If wala, we can have our own similar to what SoBR did for the freshie elections
Cami: We gave 2 days and we think that it really helped.
Jaro: Maybe the electoral board can also take a look into that concern. Through the past years, mayroon talagang problem with voter turnout so baka kasi magkaroon ng failure of elections just because hindi na-meet ‘yong specific required amount. Baka pwede sigurong ibaba somehow. I’m not sure pero ‘yon nga, maybe the electoral board can review the required number of people just for the elections to be counted valid. Siguro for the “I couldn’t care less” maybe it can be painful but on the other side, maybe that can inspire us to do better to provide services that will benefit them more.
Andi: I was going to suggest lang. OVCSA will present the revised electoral code to the USC and the 3 polpars. Mario, if you are present in that meeting, it would be nice to raise that na lang if kaya.
Mario: May nag-suggest na mail in ballots. Not sure lang how this works with the univ-wide elections if ever, pero for sure I’ll be updating you guys and will be working with OVCSA and USC if may mga meetings regarding elections.
UPSE Deanship Nominations & Election Updates (c/o Chairperson) - 5 min
Today is March 17. ECONsult was released on the 15th. Since this is the second consecutive ECONsult, each council member will help their respective batch representative disseminate the ECONsult. Freshies, please ask your block heads na lang to help you. This is due on the 22nd.
From the results, we’ll see if there’s a nominee.
Two options:
Whether or not we have a nominee, we will be releasing a statement. Lenten Break is from the 29th to the 4th. Standmaking GA is on the 31st. If ever you are not available that time of the day, we can adjust it naman.
Standmaking on the 31st. We can’t nominate without the nominee accepting the nomination. We’ll send a letter around the 23rd so there’s more than 5 days for them to reply.
ELECTIONS

Andi: Okay sa 31st na lang.
[Motion] Mitch: Motion to extend by 5 minutes.
Mario: I second the motion.

Mitch: I second the motion.
Andi: Does anyone object? Mario and Steph are officially our SEEB heads.
Emman: Kailan mare-release ‘yong code for elections.
Andi: According to the electoral board, we can only call for applications for candidacy within a specific period kaya we’re looking into it pa especially since wala pang clear guidelines for USC elections if ever na mayroon. We'll Release the guidelines by then.

ECONsult Results
Accessibility
- Mapapansin natin na almost everyone is above 12 units. May mga 0 units, which could mean na may students na nag-file ng LOA.
- I would like to thank BRA kasi naabot talaga nila ‘yong quota. As early as Friday or two days before the deadline, na-reach na nila.
- When it comes to devices used, no one voted no but that could mean a lot of things.
- Karamihan may second device pero a considerable amount said na they did not have one.
- When it comes to wifi, mostly naman ay moderate speed of internet connectivity.
- 66.4% has a private space in their house. For yes, some have stated that they have their own space. For no, they stated that they can study in their rooms but they also share their rooms with other people.
- Hindrances include: slow wifi, lockdown fatigue, household responsibilities, power interruptions, noise, and a lack of conducive learning environment.
Second Sem
- Adjusted syllabus. Those who did not agree said that profs mostly piled up on readings. Most students voted agree and strongly agree on the survey.
- Maraming econ related for those who voted 3 and 4. Some of the profs shortened their syllabus but there are still synchronous sessions.
Council Initiatives
- When there are concerns from the econ students related to econ which students themselves cannot address because of power imbalances, I hope SESC can take a proactive stand.
- We do always listen, Dear STRAW is always there. It would be nice if ilalagay ‘yong mga name. We always brought it up. Laging binabato ng admin. What they always say is that as much as the students have their academic freedom, so does the prof.
- We have been always trying to suggest. WE have always found a middle ground before the two.
- Tutorials (e.g. Math 21, Econ subjects)
- Initiatives for those who do not have the means to accessible remote learning
- Be the bridge of interests of Econ students, by maybe attempting to bridge people with the same interests together
Elections
- Karamihan 4-5.
- For 1, some have stated that they do not have the means of fully understanding the candidates. Lack of internet connectivity of others.
- Others doubt na magkakaroon ng high voter turnout.
- May mga uncertain and unsure what to feel exactly right now.
- May mga nage-emphatize rin with council members now since this is the interim term.
- Maintaining the election’s integrity, it was suggested to have more secure platforms for voting. There were people who said that it is unfair to vote kasi hidi talaga makakapag-vote ‘yong mga taong need talaga ma-represent gn council.
- If there is a way to physically reach out to students who cannot go online for their vote, then it is possible to maintain the integrity of the elctions.
- 92.9% said that they are able to participate in elections.
- Others have stated that they are not sure if they are going to be free for the elections or are unsure if their understanding of someone’s plans is enough to understand.
Mario: I think with regards to the results of the sampling size, more or less we reached 50% naman.
Mitch: Sa turnout ng votes, I think we can control that naman. Kaya naman natin gawan ng paraan in that aspect just to make sure na those who can vote will vote.

STRAW Updates (c/o Straw-Sec) - 10 min
Updates on Tuklas: An Advocacy Fair
- We have already started contacting sponsors. As of now, we have three partners na.
Updates on grievances:
- Majority of the grievances that were aired in the ECONsult c/o Econ Rep to USC are grievances I wasn’t able to address because they weren’t submitted to Dear STRAW
Protocols on grievances
- Three main phases when tackling grievances: internal resolution, raising it to the admin, and in extreme cases, raising it to UP admin.
- Internal resolution
- We raise it first to the professor so that we ensure we have exhausted all possible means of resolving it before going to the admin.
- Raise it to admin
- If it has been proven that it cannot be resolved internally, we send a grievance letter to UPSE admin.
- Admin has been very responsive and helpful naman kaya do not be scared to raise certain issues.
- Raise it to UP admin
- More for extreme cases
- Not really something that commonly occurs since UPSE admin has been very proactive
- Extremec cases where issues are raised to offices such as OVCAA
- Internal resolution
- STRAW can help you in whichever phase in the process of addressing grievances.
- BRA within the day, please remind your batches that Dear STRAW is open 24/7.
