- Ian: Maybe batch reps can brig tonight and tomorrow.
- Howie: Would it be possible to bring 1 person per core? Let’s also reshare the pub tonight. Check the core group and tag your members to remind them. As for SEAC, please remind them in the group.
3. Electives 101 Updates c/o Javi, Yana, Steph, Angelo (5 mins)
- Javi: We met with our core and we finalized the program flow. We just need speakers for Creative Writing, Broad Comm and Public Administration.
- Javi: As for the format, we’ll have speakers talk about their electives at the start then have them stationed at different parts of the room.
- Ian: Do you have a floor plan?
- Yana: We plan to put chairs by the sides as well as the long tables.
- Yana: For the electives and speakers, we have
- Business Administration - Nina Enriquez
- Political Science - Ian Serrano
- Sociology - Jonathan Vegamora
- Education - Theresa Morada
- Geography - Renz Salarda
- Philosophy - Ryan Jacob
- Speech - Nica Pine
- European Languages - Rio Dayao
- Mixed - Jackie Comendador
- Yana: If we don’t find speakers for the missing electives, we plan to get our backup speakers for IE, EL, or History since we noticed a lot of people a lot take it. Do you have people you can suggest?
- Joaquin: Cielo for Kas.
- Jackie: You can get the people who took med electives because it’s interesting since people wouldn’t think that they can take those; Arlene and Lotlot.
- Yana: We plan to give a leaflet with all the electives available since the old primer was outdated. We’ll be posting it online. I also have snacks and drinks good for 50 even if we have around 37 going so far.
4. Alay sa Personnel Updates c/o Bets (5 mins)
- Bets: Who are free on 11:30 this Friday? Cams Je Louise Shin Kayla Theresa Howie. Howie will get the pancit and barbeque. We’re gonna buy 2 6L Bottles of water and buy sachets of nestea to cut costs. I’m thinking of going to Divisoria for tokens, do you have any suggestions besides water tumblers?
- Paje: How about Noche Buena packs?
- Bets: We might fall short in terms of budget which is 50 pesos per person and there will be 45 people whom we’ll give tokens to.
- Bets: Mugs can be but we gave mason jars last year. I’ll list down possible tokens then I’ll ask my mom to choose which is most affordable.
- Bets: Jolo and Josh will host. I’ll give the script which is ready on Thursday.
- Bets: Tita Marci already gave me the headcount, but I asked her if she wants me to print a hardcopy of the invitation to disseminate around UPSE and she said a notice in SE 101 would be enough.
5. Culminight c/o Jolo (5 mins)
- Jolo: Scratch paper Initative is approved by admin to be implemented starting next week just in time for Hell Week. Joaquin will be posting the pub and mechanics later in the chat.
- Jolo: We’re planning already for Culmninight. Programs wants to compile the largest number of performares from the UPSE community so you can enjoy food and listen to music as soon as you get back from lantern parade with small tidbits in between.
- Jolo: We’re trying to explore the possibility of having concessionnaires alongside free food during lantern parade. I’m working with cams on this too. They’ll more or less complement the food we’ll be having so more on drinks and desserts.
- Cams: People can buy even before the lantern parade so the concessionnaires don’t have to be only those that complement
- Jolo: We have to take into consideration some things according to Ma’am Kraft like electricity cost and there’s a restriction to have only concessionnaires in the college twice, so I told Golden to stop looking for concessionnaires first. What do you guys think?
- Ian: What’s the advantage of having concessionnaires?
- Jolo: It complements the free food and you earn from the concessionnaires too. That’s our initial plan instead of just food. The concessionnaires could also be like nachos and finger food.
- Je: The thing is, I’m not sure if we’ll earn from it since the market is students.
- Jolo: That’s why we were thinking
- Paje: For me, I’m kind of not for it since looking at Lantern Parade and what goes on, people just want to relax and even go home or someplace after since it’s the last day of the school year.
- Jolo: We want to practice all our options since we have extra money from Siklab, so maybe we can have better food or make a little more with the concessionnaires.
- Je: Maybe you can partner with 7-Eleven like pitch the idea to them so they can give free slushies.
- Jolo: That’s actually what I meant like only one to two stalls would be selling for refreshments, so they’re bound to earn.
6. BRA Outreach Updates c/o Louise & Kayla (5 mins)
- Louise: It’ll be on Nov 27, 3-5PM in Verlaine Foundation. We’ll meet in Econ at 2PM since the program will start at 3PM. Gelo and Steph will take care of the warm-up game. They gave a list of activities we could do and the one we chose was the tie- dye canvas bags. 4:30-4:50 is the eating time. For food, we decided on BBQ, Spaghetti and fruit juice. Lobo is only giving us 2k so batches have to give 1k each.
- Kayla: Junior core will be fundraising pastillas for only 5 pesos.
- Yana: I feel like we shouldn’t do the spaghetti since we’ll need plates for it.
- Bets: We still have utensils if you need.
- Louise: Transpo: Yana, Javi, Kayla, Je, Gelo
- Louise: It’s okay if the seniors and Sophies won’t be able to go since we’re only allowed to bring 20 volunteers.
- Gelo: The freshies have Ecosoc interviews in the morning then Bio makeup class after and almost 15 of those are freshies.
- Ian: It’s okay if there’s a CDC partnership, but how do we get the other people to go?
- Louise: We were thinking of bringing a number per batch.
- Ian: Maybe it can be 10-12 from Ecosoc.
- Louise: Do you think it’s okay that we give each org a number of slots?
- Ian: And when you pub it, put that not everyone will be granted slots.
- Je: Mayber next sem, we can make it compliant that each org send a rep.
- Josh: to incentivize other orgs, you should talk to the execomm of the other orgs. I talked to them for Mulat and they usually have a lot going on, so only 1 was able to go to Mulat but it helps to talk to them.
- Paje: If you want to partner with orgs, you need to send letters to their emails.
7. Lantern Parade Updates c/o Cams, Je & Joaquin (10 mins)
- Je: We’re buying materials on Thursday: wood and cloth. I’ll be buying the japanese lanterns too since we’ll be giving those to the students during Lantern Parade.
- Cams: By Saturday, we’ll be starting Prodwork, 9am onwards. Who can go? Josh,
- Howie, Je.
- Bets: We should invite our cores to help out.
- Cams: Our sources of funds are the caroling funds, alumni merch funds and donations from the alumni. Ma’am Kraft will be asking the school too if they can give us around 30k safest if ever.
- Joaquin: We’ll be having a pre-event and post-doc video, Culminight DPs and a pub. We’re contacting maybe Andi Arellano for the pre-event video. Our problem now is the DPs since what we initially wanted has to be done at night and outdoors. It also might look like Musikapella’s. The alternative is like Noche-Buena style.
- Paje: I think you can get a classroom like SE 102 since there aren’t classes there usually.
- Howie: In terms of timeline, are we okay?
- Cams: I think it’s best if we work on Saturdays.
- Je: Also Mondays.
- Howie: Kindly post the dates where we need to help. Also, M&P please make shifts for your core regarding DP shoots.
8. Sidhi Updates c/o Paje (5 mins)
- Paje: Francis turned over the email then we’ll ask him about the money soon. I have a structure in mind already. I was thinking of one editor then another person to help the editor. The latter will be like a co-editor but will leave after the sem like the person will come from Council just to look over. After that, 4 associate editors. The jobs will be the job of the editor. We pick among ourselves who the ex-officio co-editor will be.
- Ian: For recruitment, do we use the SIDHI page or SESC page?
- Paje: It will be using the SESC page since it has a better reach. My plan is that once we have a team, they’ll work on a relaunch like a rebranding. They can have a launch of their first issue and their new brand. After the sem, the ex-officio leaves and it becomes independent. I think we can publicize it next week.
- Howie: Shouldn’t we look for the ex-officio amongst ourselves first?
- Paje: We can do that in another GA. We need to strategize how to find an EIC first.
9. Econ Rep Updates c/o Ian (5 mins)
- Ian: For 4-Sem Rule, Howie has talked to Ma’am Magno and she said that we should talk to Ma’am Abrenica addressed to her since she’s undergrad chair. I’ll need to schedule the next meeting next week. For the 4-Sem Rule TWG, we’re moving on to content-generation. For the meeting, we’ll be discussing the content there. If you still want to join the group, you may. My target is to give something by the end of this sem.
- Ian: For the Econsult and Econcepts about TRAIN, I’m conflicted between releasing an Econsult on TRAIN or just make a stand as a Council?
- Je: I think we should still Consult.
- Paje: I think we shouldn’t make a stand and just focus on sharing info.
- Jackie: I think it isn’t really an issue that we say yes or no to. For example, the jeepeney issue is one that you say yes or no to. The tax reform however is something that isn’t black and white and is very technical. As Econ students, it’s better that it becomes our job to teach people about it rather than making a stand for or against it.
- Ian: I agree that Econcepts is important but I think since it’s a very Econ topic, we should be able to make a stand since it also has a strong effect on our economy.
- Yana: I agree with Paje that we should focus on info dissem. I don’t think we should ask students to pick between the House or Senate since for example, during the DG, there were drawbacks to both sides and maybe not everyone knows about it yet.
- Joaquin: I think we should focus on info dissem since it’s hard to make a stand about it. It’s going to affect different sectors so we’re going to have a lot of different results. Maybe we can make a Free Market article for it instead.
- Jackie: If you really want to make a stand for it, don’t rush on it this sem because it’s very technical. We have a lot of profs who are working for the TRAIN bill, so we won;t only be touching on the students but even profs, so if we want to make a stand to infor people, we should just info dissem.
- Paje: In the end, I think we should make a statement as Econ students. We should elucidate what we think is an efficient tax system. If we come up with a good infographic, I think it’s good for us.
- Howie: I think that since the stand is too multifaceted, the results we’re going to get might not reflect what the students really want to say.
10. Haraya Updates c/o Jackie & Theresa (5 mins)
- Jackie: Last Monday, we had our first shoot. A lot of people were okay with it since the flow was good. We had some problems and miscommunications like last weekend, we had a problem with scheduling since Zone 5 sent shoot guidelines late. We didn’t know they had a break at 12-1. We had a 30 minutes before rule. There were some delays since the girls took some time preparing.
- Ian: How much was allotted for preparing?
- Jackie: 30 minutes but the editing and choosing a picture takes long.
- Jackie: We have another problem since the package says that 150 students need to avail of the package but we’re only 146 graduating and one from UP Manila will be taking with us since their Grad team hasn’t been moving. We’re hoping that maybe 3 more people avail.
- Jackie: We required all of our batchmates to avail, and we even tried to make the list as cheap as possible.
- Paje: Are we going to have a Council picture?
- Jackie: Yes, we plan to have SESC with the SEAC orgs, profs and titas. It will be in Econ, not in the studio so we don’t have to pay.
- Theresa: We’re trying to get OneShang for Grad Ball on June 12. We can release a poll though for that or another place on a different date.
11. Other Matters (5 mins)
- Joaquin: We need a house for shooting the pre-event video on November 30. Who can offer? Theresa
- Josh: I plan to make guidelines and rules for the lib so we can enforce it strictly with the permission of the lib.
- Howie: Econ 131 Yap, Nov 23, Thursday 5pm onwards. SET Answering has started and the deadline is December 8.
- Ian: USC BSS is going to release an ESSF so please help answer.
