- GA Tidbits
- World news: Trump has met with Obama, and has started the transition for the presidency
- Local: Sen. Joel Villanueva ordered dismissed for PDAF -- Ombudsman
- UP: New UP president elected, Law Dean Danilo Concepcion
- Other: Today marks the 900th episode of WWE Smackdown
- SESC Core
- Carlos: I think we can start Core sign-ups before the end of the month, para we can preempt Roots, Economix, so that we have better leverage in getting our Core members.
- Chito: What if we open it during the break? Let's make sure na hindi lang tayo made-delay sa pag-form ng Core.
- Carlos: My worry is that by the time we open, everyone's been taken na. Though may valid concern rin that people may underestimate their academic and org load.
- Aaron: For the benefits, it will make the Core members more involved, and it will give us time to come up with contingencies if konti lang ang sign-ups. Costs may include uncertainty, like people underestimating their load. I'm personally for the sign-ups before the break. We can avoid kasi the late drafting in this sem.
- Jem: I prefer that we do it early kasi parang sayang yung opportunity kasi baka na-tap na sila ng people.
- Jackie: I agree with having it earlier kasi kami nga, nahihirapan kami gumawa ng Core.
- Howie: I agree that we have it early compared sa January since like this sem, nauna yung orgs na maghanap ng tao, and alam nating nahirapan tayong maghatak. We basically have more time to make hatak to people.
- Consensus: Council will hold earlier Core sign-ups
- STATA Seminar Evaluations
- Trina: Lesson learned like iba talaga if may incentives for attendance. We banked on the fact that it was beneficial in and of itself.
- Carlos: Do you think in terms of paghatak or publicity, we can improve something on it?
- Jackie: Siguro pubbing it earlier, but then we had difficulty rin sa pagkuha ng speaker.
- Trina: For the people that we contacted, tinext naman namin lahat, pero hindi lang siguro relevant to them.
- NYC Updates
- Jem: NYC is this weekend na. It's November 19 and 20. Calltime for Saturday is 9:30 am for volunteers (in GT Toyota). For Sunday, you have to be here by 7:00 am (in Econ). Meet in the Madrigal building on Sunday. Attire for Saturday is plain black shirt, denim jeans, and closed shoes. Bawal mag-sandals or whatever. They will give to me on Friday the IDs for Council. Basta for those who said that they will go, you have to go. NYC shirt will be on Day 2.
- *Paje enters 5:00 PM*
- Jem: Reminder for tomorrow that there's prod work on 4:00 - 8:00 pm. It's just fixing the NYC faci kits and the delegate kits. On Friday, there will be a final GA. Final venue is still hindi pa sure, but I'll tell you on the group.
- Kiss: Just to inform you, the alumni gave 5k for NYC. They want Martin [Suarez] to talk to UPSEAA.
- STRAW Updates
- Howie: For the library, nagawa na yung Mannequin Challenge. Ano palang sabi ng lib sa noisy list?
- Carlos: Apparently, they just keep making noise anyway.
- Howie: I think tayo talaga yung dapat mag-start na sumaway sa people sa library.
- Carlos: What that means also is that bilang SESC, we are the first ones who are quiet, the ones who don't move the chairs, and the first ones to follow the rules
- Howie: For Mental Health, yung article, ibibigay ni Aaron Sta. Maria on Friday. For the infographic, I'll work on it tomorrow. For parking guidelines, I gave up look na sa Gdrive, since wala sa lumang drives, so we just have to make a new one. Siguro by next sem, talagang mai-implement ito. I'll consult with the drivers and students. For Magna Carta, nakapag-send na ako ng partnership proposals sa lahat ng student councils.
- Howie: For the library, nagawa na yung Mannequin Challenge. Ano palang sabi ng lib sa noisy list?
- EDRes Updates
- Jem: I talked to ETC na about the splitting of the expenses.Total expenditures Php7,176. I already talked to the profs who gave incentives, except Frago. She needed it na ASAP, and she just asked the class who went there, so we're kind of okay na. Ang kailangan is that by the end of the sem okay na. For the Magna Carta, nag-reply na si Atty. Keila Garcia. Though malelate siya until 5pm since she's from work. We discussed either we (1) start on 5pm, (2) start on 4:30 where LSG discuss first the MC, then follow-through with the lawyer, or (3) leave the lawyer altogether.
- Carlos: Have you sent this to SEAC?
- Jem: They haven't replied pa, though I've sent them all naman.
- Jem: For the ED of council x Ecosoc. Final title is "One Too Many: Exploring Extrajudicial Killings". The three perspectives is socio (which is Walden Bello), economic, and human rights experience.
- Jem: Whichever I finish first, either the Electoral College or Mental Health, that's the one we'll publish it.
- Media and Publicity Updates
- Tin: I'm mobilizing my Core now. I'm training my Core now, Chole Tapucar, Gail Gibe, and Cyril Cornelio. Last week, ang theme namin is kay Trump. Ang nanalo is kay Cyril. So I published na rin siya sa SESC.
- *Dumalaog arrives 5:27 PM*
- Jem: We can do like a previous presentation of the past Lantern Parades.
- Carlos: Aside from that, can we print the memos that we have from Admin and just post it there.
- Tin: Ang theme na aming pubmat activity for the week is "hellweek tips".
- Tin: Reminder to everyone, if you need editing with pub, just send me the .psd file para madaling i-edit.
- Fin Updates
- Joel: This week, I'll start collecting the documents for our bank account, though ang haba ng process ng pag-set up ng bank account. For IGP this week, sabi ng Core ko, gawing Friday since maghahatak pa sila ng tao, though kailangan by Thursday. For the E-Store, okay pa naman siya. Lahat ng shirts nasa bahay ko.
- Schoolympics Protocols
- Earl: Nagkasakit raw si Marianne kaya hindi raw nagkaroon ng game, and nakausap ko rin siya about it. Nagka-chat rin ako with the captains of the volleyball and clarified if tuloy pa rin ba ito and if may reklamo siya, sana nasabi in the first place.
- Carlos: Kapag mga ganyan na, it's more of the batch teams' problem na, so batch reps kayo na ang bahala diyan. For SAC, I think we can have firm rules na lang for that, and relay that to the captains and team members Earl: Since before ako mag-reserve ng kailangan for the game, I ask them naman. Sina Quimbo and Lobo, they said na hindi talaga sila ka-agad makaka-compete, so sinabi ko na lang sa Seniors and Juniors na continue na lang yung game. 'Nung humihingi ako ng confirmation from people na pupunta. If sa tingin niyo na wala nang pag-asa, sana sabihin 3-4 days before the event.
- Carlos: Also for the batch reps, I heard some concerns na parang in some games, that if there are some certain people na hindi makakapag-compete, minu-move na ka-agad.
- Earl: For me kasi, as much as possible, ayaw ko nang nade-default, so it's more on accommodating the players.
- Carlos: Siguro let's make it clear that we should accommodate where the fairness is. We're not going to force them to compete, but until the three-day window time.
- Carlos: Some people were actually asking whether streetdance na talaga, since may tradition na rin talaga of cheerdance.
- Earl: Yes
- Internals Updates
- Paje: Just to remind you, meron tayong Humans of UPSE tomorrow, featuring Marianne Cleto. I just wanna thank everyone for people's reception of last week's Humans of UPSE. Sana nowhere to go but up, and then from there it's gonna be holidays na. So for Lantern parade, it's gonna be a gpak sa back parking. We decide to package as one thing like Lantern Parade with free food. The theme of the whole thing is more of like thanksgiving. We're gonna start it with Humans of UPSE, but more of like a video. We're gonna do a DP blast and everything, we're gonna make sure that it's really cute. We'll have a main pub and three days of teaser pubs. Lahat ng pubmats natin will be more of people instead of graphics. We'll release a post-event documentation of Lantern Parade. We plan in getting Red Bull as a sponsor. My plan was to make SEAC as partner for Lantern Parade, all of them, and they'll be making hatak, since I wanna foster a spirit of oneness in a sense na they're a still very much a part of this event, though they aren't the ones organizing it. Hatak talaga yung main contribution nila. And yes, sila rin yung magp-provide ng food potluck style.
- Lantern Parade
- Kiss: You've seen naman the design of the lantern that I posted. The alumni presented this yesterday in their meeting, they said that it was underwhelming. They said that we can add elements to the lantern.
- Earl: Ma'am Kraft had the same comments like the alumni. She wanted na since yung design is supposed to be a representation of different sectors in society, to present it in a more organized way. She said that it's more counterproductive to do, with its elements. She wanted to have harmony for all the different elements that we have for the lantern.
- Kiss: Tomorrow we'll have another meeting with Sir Oggie, including the design, together with Noel Castro, yung nagdesign, to see kung ano pa yung pwede naming baguhin and idagdag.
- Earl: They said that they wanted the tree itself, though may mga elements lang na off for them.
- Carlos: Let's just keep in mind that it's gonna be us who'll make this, though may kasama namang people dito as workers.
- Kiss: Guys if may kilala kayong electricians, carpenters, and welders, tell us para maka-help rin with building this.
- Carlos: Ang importante is we get to fix this with alumni and Paje and Pat, discuss this with SEAC on Monday.
