1. GA Tidbits
- World: The USA is threatening Iran that they would sanction everyone involved in the missile program so Iran fired back by saying they would restart their missile program.
- Local: Uber has been suspended for a month for defying LTFRB's order to not accept new driver applicants.
- UP: OUR has released a memo for PWDs to avail of IDs at the Health Center.
- Random: Puppy found near cement mixer mash up and is now being taken care of by a jail officer.
- Je; The pubmat got a high reach, but I think it should be earlier. We should’ve emphasized that it was for Econ students since there were non-Econ people who signed up.
- Je: We can get the pots and use it for the Destress wall except we
- Jackie: It would’ve been better if the instructor were more interactive. The whole time, we were just making pots on our own. The instructor wasn’t
- Jolo: It was a good step for culture. The ones not from Econ were taking pictures and making memories out of the event, so I think it was good. The number of people was nice since it was kind of intimate.
- Howie: What were the common reasons people couldn’t go?
- Jackie: The price, people had their own activities on Monday.
- Javi: We had NSTP.
- Paje: Those who went found it cool. We can’t expect a lot of people to try these events out because it’s a niche, so we can have a lot of these events but don’t expect.
- *Kayla Fabi arrives 5:18*
- Kayla: It was expensive.
- Je: It was cheap compared to usual pottery events. I also plan to hold museum visits in partnership with orgs like Ecosoc.
- Howie: Note, for museum visits, make sure to bring IDs.
- Miguel: It was okay. I like how there’s no program because we aren’t telling them things they already know, but people who were assigned to talk weren’t as lively as I wanted them to be.
- Howie: I think it’s nice for them to hear about the orgs from the orgs themselves and it helps that there’s no definite program so people come on their own.
- Miguel: The ice cream was sulit because we got to give even the staff and faculty, and the ice cream man was so grateful that we hired him since he probably doesn’t reach that much people in a day. It was good that we spread the initiatives throughout the week. We can do beer pong tomorrow
- Miguel: For the booths this year, they aren’t as bongga as they used to be.
- Je: Maybe the orgs feel like the number of people they are catering to aren’t enough to compensate for the effort to make it bongga.
- Jackie: I think the space is also spread out so it doesn’t look as festive as other org fairs.
- Josh: Maybe next year it’ll be bigger since the incoming freshies are a lot.
- Howie: It’s good that the initiatives are spread out since it’ll push people to go like the launch last Tuesday, the ice cream then the beer pong tomorrow.
- * Louise arrives 5:27*
- Howie: For the layout, do you think it helped?
- Miguel: Personally, I think it was okay since they didn’t really make angal. I should’ve put UPIC beside Ecosoc then OBEM and ETC. Last reminder, please remind the orgs to clean after themselves as well as us.
- Javi: We’ll be posting the pub in the Freshie Group at 7pm. The script and program flow is ready. We might end early cause it was prepared for 6 candidates but we only have 4.
- Howie: Kindly tell them to wear preferably white smart casual.
- Javi: I wanted to allocate more time for Open Forum.
- Yana: For fast talk, do you have questions you want to add? You can message us nalang.
- Miguel: You can use the SEEB powerpoint since that’s what we use year in and year out.
- Javi: The program flow is as follows
4:35 Opening Remarks by Josh & Bets
4:40 Speeches by Candidates (3 mins each)
5:18 Standard Questions from the current SESC
5:34 Open Forum with the audience
5:40 Random Question from the current SESC

5. Shiftees & Transferees’ Orientation Updates c/o Javi & Yana
- Yana: A lot of the shiftees couldn’t go if the STO were this Friday.
- Javi: Ma’am Kraft is free on Wednesday.
- Howie: You can get someone else from faculty if you want to push through with Tuesday since they’re most free on that day. You can talk to Ma’am Magno.
- Javi: We’ll be inviting shiftees and transferees from other batches.
- Howie: We don’t get to reach all the shiftees and transferees, so please make an event page to reach more people.
- Iyla: Inspirational Talk for Freshies next Wednesday, and we have a peg for the pub already. Confirmed speakers are Sam Cinco and Poncho Roces. I invited more like Hazel, Raffy, Cha, Leo etc.
- Je: Maybe 4 can be the call time then 4:30 start.
- Howie: If you saw the crowd in the LTS, most of them were Econ so they’re likely to go.
- Miguel: Do they have to be alumni? They can be seniors like Trina.
- Iyla: Jolo, can an incentive be free X-deals for the first 10 freshies, and giveaways for the speakers?
- Jolo: Sure
- Iyla: We got Nescafe to be our Kapekonomiya coffee sponsor. Can we bring the tetra pack Nescafe inside the Audi?
- Howie: I don’t think so.
- Iyla: For Kapekonomiya, we got Rep from DOF, appointed by Karl Chua (state), Rep from Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (business), Mae Buenaventura, VP of Freedom from Debt Coalition (perspective of labor and lower-income classes). Winnie Monsod said she won’t be relevant in the amendment of the Tax Reform in September, so it’ll end up like an educational discussion. I was hoping to get one of the Quimbos to speak in replacement of her.
- Iyla: For NYC, Senate confirmed that the field trip will be there. We could attend a hearing. We;re officially partnered with NEDA and there are a lot of benefits such as endorsement, NGO fair, mechanics & case studies for competition freebies, free speakers, etc. We just have to endorse Ambisyon 2040. DILG is also endorsing us; Kokko Pimentel and Kiko Pangilinan donated to us. Atom Araullo for Media. Pending speakers are Leni Robredo, Calr Chua, Antontio Aposa, Ramon Del Rosario. We also guested at Voice of the Youth. We got a New York Times meeting and might have a partnership.
- Iyla: Econcepts in the works.
- Kevin: The Bazaar expected 50k, but since concessionaires backed out, we’re back to 20k. We got a sponsor c/o Cams, Gcash, and every person who downloads it equals 70 pesos. They’re a partner now, but all we have to do is send the name and number of the person who downloaded it.
- Kevin: Reminder to pay for Council shirt and ID
- Kevin: Mini IGPs include a booth for Emerch. I plan to set up a computer with controllers where people can pay to play 2k etc. Next, selling food on Mondays in the Lounge.
- Kevin: For reimbursement and disbursement, I’ll be posting a link to a google file where you can fill it in and send it back to I can check the items and give you the money. Every time I give money, if you don’t give a budget request form, make a fin statement. If there’s excess, just give it back. We’re still financially stable but not as safe.
- Iyla: Suggestion by Ma’am Ravago for merch, car sticker.
- Kevin: We have a supplier for stickers already; I’ll follow it up with my core.
- Kevin: The new dri-fit shirts will be released this week.
- Howie: Kevin, please post the steps in the group.
- Jolo: For Akwe, is the 30k good?
- Kevin: The budget you gave in Plansem was actually over, but it’s all okay.
- Jolo: There’ll be a teaser pub tonight to show the New Akwe. Please support!
- Joaquin: We’ll be using a drone (c/o Josh and Max) to shoot this week as an opening for Akwe.
- Jolo: BRA, how are you? Are your batch reps responding?
- Kayla: Can you please pub the rules and guidelines?
- Jackie: This isn’t the Seniors’ priority right now, so people are still kind of clueless as to what to do.
- Jolo: The idea was I give you the paper and you disseminate it.
- Kayla: It’s difficult since we cover our core and maybe 10-20 people only.
- Javi: It’s hard to make hatak people for the cheer and dance.
- Jackie: I’m talking to the usual active people but they tell me that they can’t because they have thesis and are busy.
- Kayla: Akwe is hard in general but now it’s new, so it’s difficult to hatak.
- Louise: The people are g but we’re having a hard time with the banner.
- Miguel: It’ll be more urgent next week, but the pubs should’ve been more frequent to hype it up within the week. Like the rules should be posted tomorrow.
- Louise: We’re having a hard time looking for cloth.
- Iyla: I have a lot of cloth I can bring on Friday.
- Jolo: We can move the deadline to Tuesday.
- Jolo: For judges, we got Tita Rose. We’re going to ask Sam Cinco as our alumni judge. For faculty, Sir Arcenas and Ma’am Daway couldn’t commit. The rubric will be sent and pubbed.
- Jolo: For pub schedule, we’ll adjust to hype up more. We’ll have on-ground pubs in tambyaan and commmeets.
- Jolo: We’re going to have a run-through on Thursday, so you guys know where you’re positioned. It’ll also be our contingency plan practice. There’s going to be a shoot on Tuesday, and we’ll also be testing the fire there.
- Howie: How are we with money?
- Jolo: We’re okay. I might allot more to catering since we got the other covered.
- Jolo: In terms of the rules, what do you want to post?
- Joaquin: Maybe more specific like what to expect.
- Ian: Do you want to add the points to Schoolympics points?
- Miguel: Yeah
- Ian: Maybe BRA can make a list per batch so you can track who’s going.
- Kevin: For the food, add nalang the prize in the budget.
- Joaquin: Maybe we can have a pub telling them that Akwe is a game rather than a party.
- Howie: Let’s hatak once it’s hyped.
- Camille: For the BSP Career Talk, 7 people will be coming. Je and Iyla will be going from Council.
- Camille: Campus Ministry is asking if we can pub Holy Mass on Aug 18. We’ll be endorsing NES. Please ask people to like UPIC’s Founding the Future.
- Joaquin: When is the Holy Mass pub?
- Camille: The Mass is at 6pm. It can be in the afternoon.
- Miguel: I have a partnership concern. My team will be handling EM. It became a SEAC concern. They want to make Econ green again through green initiatives, and they want to make it a SEAC thing spearheaded by Ecosoc and SESC. They want to promote their river/coastal clean up. They want to replace the laminated signs on the trash can, and make it nicer.
- Howie: I think the point of those laminates are to be informative and not “nice”.
- Miguel: They also want to do a Paper Drive like bagsakan.
- Je: It will conflict with the Scratch Paper Initiative.
- Miguel: There will also be a Tambayan Clean Up day.
- Je: If it’s a Tambayan Clean Up, we can just pub it as SEAC.
- Miguel: EM is hoping to have it as part of their initiatives too.
- Howie: There will be students from Fukuyama University who will be visiting and Tita Rose is hoping we can tour them on Aug 29, 2:30 pm.
- Howie: Schoolympics will be at 5pm, same day, so batch reps, you may leave early.
- Howie: Who can go? Kevin, Jolo, Joaquin, Howie, Bets, Cams, Ian, Jackie.
- Jackie: We’ve made packages for the batch already. What we did was to make sure that all the prices in the first sem are the same, so we got a base price. We also opened up sign ups for the Haraya team. Those seniors joining will have incentives such as discounts for Grad Ball. Incentives get higher if they get to fundraise more. There’s even a possibility of their Grad Ball fee getting waved.
- Jackie: We’ll be opening the applications to other batches; there’ll be no incentives but if they want to help out or put it in their CV, they may do so.
- Jackie: We’ll be having a DP Blast for HARAYA to bump applications. It’s 4 people per team. All teams will be working starting this semester.
- Ian: Library Use; Those who can’t access, bring form 5 or 5A to get a temporary ID. The rules per lib are different though.
- Ian: there will be an LTS 2 next Tuesday again.
- Ian: The MDA will be on the 28th so we’ll need to choose an Econ Rep to the UFC.
- Ian: Org recognition is on-going. For ACLE, people can already start sending topics.
- Ian: There will be a univ-wide Earthquake in partnership with others interested in NDRMM like Red Cross Youth.
- Ian: For Lakbayan Integration, we’ll be proposing to go on a September Monday afternoon.
- Ian: Econsult; Econ Rep Core plans to have one for 4-Sem Rule so we can know what to do about it. It’ll be basic like asking for thoughts, suggestions etc.
- Iyla: Will we have another pub with info about it? Like Rationale etc.
- Ian: Yeah
- Ian: The statements team will be working on the Free Educ statement since we have a lot of arguments to consider.
- Miguel Can we borrow books?
- Ian: So far, okay lang for room use, but rules are different for each college.
- Jackie: If you want to borrow books, our lib allows people to leave their ID then go photocopy.
- Ian: Stat SC plans to have an ED on Sustainable Development goals, and they’re asking if we’re interested in the data they got.
- Howie: GA will be on Thursday since the Inspirational Talk is on Wednesday to give way for Akwe preparations.
- Bets: Council key has been duplicated for each Councilor and pair of Batch Reps
- Kevin: We have another Bazaar next week.
- Jackie: For Council announcements etc, please tell me for yearbook.
