1.GA Tidbits (5 mins)
•World: Florida school shooting: Officer Scot Peterson defends actions
•Local: Chief Justice took a wellness leave amidst trials for impeachment
•UP: #WalkoutPH last Friday at the AS Steps
•Random: Mocha Uson posted a poll where majority agree that EDSA was a result of Fake News
2.Career 101 Evaluations c/o Cams & Iyla (5 mins)
•Cams: In terms of publicity, the reach was okay so thank you for sharing. In terms of finance, it was covered. It was difficult to hatak for attendance but it tuned out okay since there were more than half in the room. We can try securing partner orgs next time so we have an easier time with hatak.
•Je: Attendance was good considering there was an exam the next day and other events at the same time.
•Howie: Do you think we should combine it with Internships 101?
•Je: You can combine it in one month or week.
•Howie: My fear is CAP also has one. Do you think there are other fields we can cover?
•Iyla: We’ll be having 2 more talks- the first with Sales, Finance, Advertising then the next will have NGO, Consulting, and Data Science or Insurance. Next time, let’s start on time hopefully since last time, we were waiting for more people to arrive.
3.Internships 101 Evaluations c/o Javi & Yana (5 mins)
•Yana: i think we should’ve released the pub a week earlier since people started coming in at the latter part of the event and people stayed only on side of the room, but it went better than expected.
•Jackie: I think we can work on the hatak.
•Howie: Were the people lower than usual? since we also had Career 101 the previous day and people also started coming in late.
•Iyla: A lot of people were free cut last week so there weren’t a lot of people in Econ.
•Louise: There were exams at the same time as the event.
•Howie: Did you have a hard time getting speakers?
•Javi: It was hard since it was during working hours.
•Ian: The snacks were good.
•Je: We can coordinate with CAP to get speakers from their partner companies.
•Theresa: Instead of selling the internship, they can focus more on what they’ll be doing there.
4.SAC Updates c/o Je (5 mins)
•Je: Practices for Dilgames has started but there isn’t a schedule yet. Maddee is talking to CHK regarding this. I’ll update you as to when we need to support.
•Je: The cooking class will be around April since March is already packed for Pan Alpha. We’ll be releasing a health video this week or next week with the help of Bel and Gabe.
•Je: The colleges under BEAST are game to have it again. Schoolympics venue will most probably be in Ateneo Grade School court and Blue Ridge. Prelims (one more round of Basketball and Volleyball) is on April 2 and Schoolympics is on April 9.
•Je: We might have E-games, so we’ll be talking to Lem for the Play Station. We just have to send a letter.
•Howie: When April comes, please make sure you get to hatak your batch mates to support.
•Je: We plan to ask some profs to incentivize attendance for Schoolympics.
5.Magna Carta Lobbying Updates c/o Josh (5 mins)
•Josh: What are the updates regarding the last 4 that we lobbied to?
•Howie: I talked to Benjie and we might just have to write a letter again. The last time we lobbied, we went through each provision one by one. We might have to resolve the questions of the previous ones before setting another meeting and I have a feeling it needs some editing considering that tuition is free but it will have to go through a referendum. The UC meeting is rescheduled to June since February is already ending. It will be set in the UPSAWOW (?).
6.Diwa: Mental Health Open Consultation Updates c/o Josh (5 mins)
•Josh: Now, we have 12 experts. We’re at a good position right now since we only had 5 a week before last time. We have 20 pending right now. We just need to set schedules with those experts and at least this time, we can pattern the sign ups after the experts like the people will choose the available dates of the psychiatrists. The rooms will be at the CFME (I’ll be talking to Ma’am Gonzales regarding this), tita Stella’s room and the Council room.
•Josh: The pub will be up on Friday. The schedule will start at 10am and end supposedly at 5pm. Some of them suggested a later schedule around 8:30pm, but I’ll have to see about that since I’m not sure the rooms will be available.
7.EdRes DG Updates c/o Iyla (5 mins)
•Iyla: : Econ 131 Pajaron tutorial on March 1 (Thu) at SE 123. Tutors: Bella Viaplana and Dindo Ramos
Econ 131 Florentino tutorial on March 2 (Fri) at SE 105. Tutors: Kevin Lobo and Jam Garcia
Econ 102 Ravago next week but details TBA
•Iyla: Edres DG will be moved cause we still don't have confirmed speakers. It'll be about charter change so if you could suggest speakers please do.
•Je: We might be able to get Christian Monsod; he’s against the charter change.
•Howie: Try getting someone who is pro-charter change.
•Iyla: When do you think we can move it?
•Howie: Maybe around April. You can check the SEAC calendar to make sure it doesn’t hit any events.
8.Econ Week & Internals Updates (5 mins)
•Jolo: Thank you for your support so far for Econ Week. We launched promotions last Sunday and got around 300 likes. We have more pub releases this week explaining the new concept. Econ Week GA this Thursday so you’re all welcome to join us for insights and comments regarding the plans. Right now, we’re more or less on track. We got 15k worth of Oreo goods. The pubs are in progress and we’re working on the mechanics for Batch Wars and Game theory.
•Jolo: What we’re working on this week is the consolidated letter for the admin so they have an idea of what’s going to happen with Paje and Bets. We’re also going to be asking profs if they can incentivize any events there.
•Jolo: I was supposed to meet with Tita Rose today but she wasn’t there today so I’ll talk to her tomorrow regarding Humans of UPSE and the consolidated letter.
•Jackie: Jolo, is it okay if we can send a representative instead since Theresa and I won’t be available?
•Jolo: Sure, just let me know. Also, if you guys haven’t liked the page, please do.
9.BRA Outreach Updates c/o BRA (5 mins)
•Kayla: We came with 3 general ideas. The first is Gawad Kalinga Enchanted Farm but there’s a fee and it’s far, but there are a lot of activities involved. The second is a Gawad Kalinga Build. The last is Heart at Play. Our choice so far is a build since it’s near around Holy Spirit. We’ve contacted all 3 and the most ideal and available date is March 24 which is after Game Theory.
•Louise: The Gawad Kalinga build has an orientation the week before (March 17). March 24 was the only date they gave. We’ll ask for their schedule in April. We’re looking at April 7.
•Howie: Ian, Paje and I talked and scheduled Midsem Evals to be on April 6.
•Jackie: Last year, Emira suggested that we have Gawad Kalinga Enchanted Farm for BRA Outreach but it wasn’t so much like an Outreach and more of a field trip.
10.Sidhi Recruitment Updates c/o Paje (5 mins)
•Paje: Only 1 person has applied so far, so do you guys have anymore suggestions? I’ve already interviewed the applicant.
•Javi: One of the first few things he said is that he needs a really good team, but in the end, what we need is someone who can execute and make sure that he follows the vision.
•Paje: Do you have any others in mind? Just so we have more to choose from. I’ll be sharing my notes with you next GA for when we decide.
11.Memo from Ma’am Kraft c/o Howie (10 mins)
•Howie: 2018 Parangal sa Mga Mag-aaral needs a list of the University Scholars and extracurricular awards per batch in either or both of the last semesters.
•Theresa: RVC and even the admin has access since they really need to check whether students are still
•Howie: Students who topped the licensure exams, but I’m not sure we have any that took.
•Jackie: The Civil Service is still this March.
•Howie: Ma’am Kraft is asking us to identify or nominate students for the Gawad Tsanselor Award, so if you have people at the top of your mind, we can go through a list next GA since the deadline is March. I’ll make a google form you can post in batch groups for nominees. Who can make the google doc? Freshies
•Howie: The last memo is for student. This one is for orgs- 2018 Parangal sa Mga Samahang Mag-aaral. We can nominate the whole SEAC except CAP since they’re under BA.
•Howie: Yael posted and there’s an emergency meeting on Thursday in DILC, 4pm regarding the Student Union building as well as the curriculum. They’re asking for one rep.
•Howie: For SEEB, we need to decide this week who will head it. Filing is scheduled on March 19. That’s almost 2-3 weeks from now. If you see anyone who has potential to carry your position, start talking to them and make sure they’re someone you can trust.
12.Other Matters
•Ian: Let’s ask the SESC for opinions regarding the Student Union building. It’s behind the Vinzons Hall and 300 million is being allotted to build it. We need idea regarding the rooms that we want there.
•Paje: In Stanford, there are restaurants and cafes. It’s really innovative and the study spaces for kids are 24/7.
•Howie: If Benjie meets with the relevant committee, we can mention hoe
•Je: DebSoc is asking if we can talk to other orgs not to use their podium.
•Howie: For BRA, please remind your batchmates that there won’t be parking until the 28th.
