2. Kickoff Bazaar Evaluations c/o Kevin (5 mins)
- Kevin: Profit is 104,400.
- Je: I think that’s revenue, not profit.
- Kevin: Revenue is 218,400. As for Econ Week Bazaar Profits are to be at 80k.
- Howie: What would the pessimistic profit be?
- Kevin: 40k
- Howie: As long as we aren’t short when it comes to money
- Kevin: Everything’s okay so far.
- Howie: What’s the next bazaar?
- Kevin: Alon on April 2-6.
3.Update from UC Committee on Curriculum Meeting c/o Je (5 mins)
- Howie: There was a meeting last Thursday on minor programs for courses since it’s an unwritten rule right now.
- Je: The University wants minor programs to be placed on diplomas during graduation. You need 18-21 units so far within 6 sems after first sem so that’s 1 class per sem. Basically, the only thing that can remove you from that minor is bad academic standing. It isn’t standardized in all colleges. The two colleges need to coordinate with each other regarding the minor of the student. Some colleges lack in resources so no all departments have approved it. This was drafted last year and will test run it in 2 years. They just got the opinions and concerns of the students.
- Ian: DId they mention how many GEs Econ has?
- Je: It still depends on the curriculum change which isn’t finalized.
- Javi: If we qualify to have a minor, will it appear in our diplomas?
- Je: Supposedly but I don’t think it will apply to any of our batches.
4.Resume Workshop Updates c/o Javi & Yana (5 mins)
- Javi: We outsourced one speaker for the event. Her name’s Justine Chua who runs The Border Collective. They help you design your resume to get into the companies that you want to. Tonight, we might release a form from her for the batch to fill up so she has an idea on how to design the resume for Econ majors.
- Yana: Our plan is to start at 4:15 so we can finish on time and give way for DebSoc. Do you think we still need to do reg?
- Paje: I don’t think we need to.
- Howie: Let’s just make sure we make hatak.
- Javi: Joaquin will be posting a pub in the event page and we’ll share the evnt page again.
- Howie: Juniors and seniors, make hatak too in case your batchmates are interested.
5.Hell Week Initiative Updates c/o Josh & Jolo (5 mins)
- Jolo: We’re going to have the traditional coffee outside the lounge. Internals will be in charge of making and distributing. We’re doing it on Tuesday-Wednesday or Thursday-Friday.
- Josh: We’re doing ours on Thursday-Friday, but we’ve yet to meet since we’re still working on DIWA. We’re going to brainstorm more ideas but we’ll probably do the same stress-relieving activities.
- Jolo: Okay, we’ll distribute on Tuesday-Wednesday since you're doing Thursday-Friday.
6.Econ Week Updates c/o Jolo (5 mins)
- Jolo: Thank you for supporting last night’s pub. We’re on track with the reach since it’s reached 108 shares this morning and it’s not only from the organizing body. Please make sure you get to share it to batch pages too.
- Jolo: We’re going to have an admin meeting tomorrow which is crucial since we’re asking permission for a lot of things tomorrow. It’s at 2:30pm. Who’s free to go? Jolo, Bets,
- Jolo: Promo week is next week, be it posters, banners, etc. enough to get on-grounds promotions. We’re going to go room-to-room as well as in the tambayans. We’ll also be getting feedback so we get to improve before we even start it. I’m hoping to utilize the batch reps here too. I’ll release sign ups later.
- Jolo: For Game Theory, logistics are set already. We’re just smoothening the program as well as more surprises. Our main concern now is our DJ situation. We propose to have 3 DJs- 2 from our connections and one that’s more experience and known. We want to up the game of Game Theory and one way is outsourcing a known DJ. We’ll have to raise some funds to get this DJ since it’s 10-15k. First, I want to ask if you have any more initiatives that need money so we know if we should use the money on that instead.
- Jolo: Paje, how are the SEAC stuff?
- Paje: They have names already. I just need updates for the room. We’ll be meeting next week so I can relay it to them.
- Jolo: Yes, we’ll ask tomorrow for 114, 4:30-6:30.
- Jolo: On Monday, we have an ocular and testing day. 13-16 is promos week. If you’re not presenting, please spread by word of mouth. March 19, Monday is the Ecosoc Outreach which is a tree planting in Los Banos. After the outreach, we have a little more prod work for promos and batch wars. On Tuesday, we’ll be launching it during lunch time with the admin. It’s a GPak so everyone gets to eat. In order to avail of the free food, you need to bring your own baunan. ETC’s event is a panel discussion on the same day. On Wednesday, we’ll be having an initiative called The Friendzone and OBEM’s event. On Thursday, we’ll be having the Spa Day whose market is really for the admin but it’s also open to the students. On Thursday, it’s ACLE so we won’t have Batch Wars or any big activity but we’ll be having the Salamat Kits for admin. On Friday, it’ll be UPIC’s educational discussion and Game Theory at the night. Lastly, we’ll be trying to get incentives fro the events of the orgs.
- Paje: For the incentives, it has to be brought up to profs individually. I’ve already talked to SEAC about it and the events are all in one letter then the profs can choose to give incentives to some or all.
- Howie: The concern last meeting was that the internals team needs to start prepping in Place One at the same time as UPIC’s so SESC please attend the UPIC event first while the internals team sets up.
- Jolo: The Econ Week hype starts with us so let’s keep it up and start pushing it.
7.Sidhi Recruitment Updates c/o Paje (5 mins)
- Paje: We have two applicants so far and I’ve talked to one of them and he envisons SIDHI to be the premier Eocnomics-angled publication of UP. For structure, he plans to have two editors- one for online and one for print. Under that, he has more editors from creatives to content. He wants to start it out online as a website that people would want to go to his pegs /brands are the NewsWeek, The Economist and The Harvard Crimson. He intends to make SIDHI a publication whose views are challenging. He gave me all hsi plans like a brandbook which focuses on the style of writing and journalism. I’m pretty confident in his plans but not so much in the commitment and capacity to lead.
- Javi: He compared it to how the Collegian was the premier publication during the time of Marcos. He wants it to be the voice of reason when it comes to issues in the world. It’s something he’s wanted to get into but never really got the chance to.
- Paje: As for the other applicant, I’ve yet to interview her next Tuesday. I’ll give you the decision next GA unless we motion to divide the house. After the next EIC’s term, the SESC hold will be removed. In this case, it would be Javi. It’s an arrangement we’ve yet to agree on but the SESC cannot stay there for too long like max. a year.
8.BRA Outreach Updates c/o BRA (5 mins)
- Louise: It’ll be on April 7 in Heart At Play Cubao. We plan to get sponsors and org partners. After Econ Week, we’ll start preparing but we’re already going to start asking for sponsors and org partners. We still need to think of activities and donations.
- Jolo: Do you need any financial support?
- Louise: We kind of do.
- Howie: Try finalizing the details so we can decide the budget.
9.SAC Updates c/o Je (5 mins)
- Je: We’re releasing a video of Gabe exercising that can be don on-the-go. There’s a meeting ongoing in the Varsity office for basketball but we have reps there for the draw lots. We still need a court for Schoolympics since AGS/AHS might not be free. On April 2, we have prelims in Blue Ridge. Dilgames hasn’t released a schedule yet so I’m still playing it by ear. The jerseys however, are arriving next week. Lastly, BEAST will most probably be pushing through around May.
- Joaquin: Will you guys be in charge of the shoot? Because I want to do it.
- Je: I was just going to ask for help with editing, but you can be the one to shoot them.
- Jackie: I was talking to Mar if she could let me train the team instead. However, the problem is that our partner college is unresponsive for the jerseys.
- Je: The Dilgames will be shown live on Facebook.
- Paje: We can use the Council page to stream the livestream.
- Howie: My fear is that Dilgames might coincide with Schoolympics.
- Je: It probably won’t happen since Dilgames is on Mondays while our Schoolympics isn’t.
10.Edres Updates c/o Iyla (5 mins)
- Iyla: There was a 102 Ravago tutorial thanks to OBEM. There will be a Econ 141 Alburo and 198 Balanquit care of ETC. There won’t be for 162 Abrenica and 151 Aleksanyan.
- Iyla: April 5 is an educational discussion on Federalism. Target speakers are Christian Monsod (who might not be able to go) and Koko Pimentel. It might be Kapekonomiya style like SE Audi levels if we get those speakers. We’ll also be getting Atty. Florin Hilbay and Prof. Gene Pilapil. For the flow, we’ll have an explanation or intro of what charter change is then bring it down to Federalism
- Iyla: April 14, Saturday morning is the staple event with OBEM called Activate. It’s a staple event since they always have a talk on startups. It’s just the focus that changes. It’s similar to Spark since it will have breakout groups. There’s a reg fee of 100 pesos. The target number of attendees is 100. We plan to have incentives and org partners. Joaquin, we need the letterhead. We’ll be launching the page next week.
- Iyla: We have a free market article on Federalism to be released when the pub calendar is free.
11.DIWA Updates c/o Josh (5 mins)
- Josh: Today, we got to help 7 people since only a few signed up today but tomorrow, we have 16 people. We have 37 people in total. We were abel to get 14 experts and a lot of them are new. Some contacts from last sem were unavailable or had to take care of emergencies. It’s better this sem since we got to figure out a system. Admin opened the Idea Room beside the UPSEAA and had it cleaned so it may be used tomorrow.
- Howie: You’re sure about the rooms for the whole week?
- Josh: Yes, I’ve been coordinating with Tita Gerlie.
12.Awards & Nominations c/o Howie (5 mins)
- Howie: For the Samahan Ng Mga Mag-aaral, I asked Ma’am Kraft if it’s okay that we nominate all Econ orgs and she said it’s okay. We just need to accomplish forms.
- Paje: I can work on it with them.
- Howie: For the Gawad Tsanselor award, no one nominated anyone form the batch groups so we can nominate people ourselves. Anyone can give suggestions: Miguel Ventura
- Ian: We’re making the pub for Duterte Watch but we already have the contents.
- Joaquin: We’re probably going to start Econ Week DPs on Friday. If M&P core won’t be able to fill in shifts, SESC might need to help but the camera we’ll be using is the easy one so no need to worry.
- Howie: March is usually the heaviest in terms of work so please make sure you ask for help if you need to.
