Summary of the Meeting:
*Meeting ends 5:35 PM
- GA Tidbits
- International: The local court in Washington decision bars the Trump immigration policy
- Local: Manny Pacquiao and Risa Hontiveros spar in Senate bill for Anti-Discrimination Bill
- UP: UP Fair this week!
- LOL: Road to Wrestlemania begins last Sunday
- Valentine's Week Evals
- Paje: It was solid naman, the concept, but I felt that hindi ko siya natutukan. I wish we used styrofoam for it to be more stable, but then I understand that we have an agreement with the CSSC. I think we could have improved the bouquets pa. There was issue like the twine was falling off, and that it was that messy. We didn’t anticipate the scale of it. Overall, I think for the most part, the quality of what we did was okay, hindi lang na quality control ng maayos yung iba.
- Joel: For my Core, I think we should have confirmed the orders and dapat nag-set kami ng deadline. For the logistics, dapat pala nag-print na lang ng list kasi hindi pa nau-update ng Core members ko yung list. We profited, but then we could have done better.
- Jackie: Siguro for the shifts, if more people lang talaga yung tumulong per shift, kasi mahirap pag umaalis na yung mga people per shift. Siguro okay rin if magkaroon tayo ng confirmation and deposit for this, kasi madali lang mag-fake eh.
- Aaron: I think it would’ve been better if nagkaroon tayo ng booth sa baba. Given that we had orders na hindi confirmed, we could’ve had publicized it na we’re selling pa.
- Jem: For me, it wouldn’t have been possible na magkaroon ng deposit thing kasi one week before lang natin na-pub, but then sana na-plano beforehand.
- Bets: I was thinking that if after ng timeslot hindi na nakuha, we could just sell them na lang.
- Carlos: To add, siguro we can improve pa sa manpower and the shifts, kasi we can see that not everyone signed up. We had to prod stuff. So everyone, please fill in your slots na para it’s fair naman to everyone.
- Josh: Next time, we have to insure the quality of the bouquet, like yung nangyari sa friend ko, since sayang din yung pera na binibigay nila sa ‘tin
- Jackie: I think we should have given access to everyone sa order form, kasi yung nangyari ay na-low batt si Joel, and hindi naman alam yung gagawin.
- Carlos: I think what we’re getting is that the concept was ingenious, but nag-lack tayo sa execution. Sayang eh, ‘cos it’s good that we made profit, but when you look at the profit that we made versus our projected profit, medyo not good. What need to make sure that the heads and their Core are more receptive pa. For the logistics rin, I think we’re too forgiving na maghatid tayo sa Regis. Siguro next time, sa Econ and AS na lang. For everyone in Council, please be there in your shifts, para hindi tayo magkahirap-hirap. In the future since we started the idea, we don’t know if the people will do it na rin next year, so you might need to think of a new idea.
- Gio: Yesterday, we shot the video for Valentine’s Day, so we’re releasing it tonight. The main person there was Andrew Banaag. So just please share it at 9pm.
- Fin Updates
- Joel: I’ll be talking to my Core pa tomorrow regarding the new fundraisers. I talked to Earl na rin pala about the team shirts. I’ll confirm pa kay Jem regarding the supplier for the shirts ng teams. For the E-Store, I’ll confirm rin kay Jem yung sa drifit shirts. Dun sa caps kasi, i’ll contact pa sa Core ko yung binigay ni Emira.
- Gabbi: Is it possible that we have a selling of the merch during Econ Week?
- Carlos: I really don’t mind if ever magga-ganun tayo.
- Magna Carta
- Jem: So may meeting mamaya biglaan with the PR arm. Carlos will be representing us. Law BAC and SESC will be there. To update you, what happened last week sa Law was that there was a volunteering of the partner organizations in the different departments of the Magna Carta alliance. We’ll be making sure to update you regularly.
- Chito: Next Diliman Rights Watch GA is on March 1.
- Carlos: If I’m not mistaken, the campaign is more of a grassroots campaign na. For the lobbying pala, people are looking for individuals who are willing to be trained in the ways of the Magna Carta, and they’ll send you around the school to be ambassadors of the Magna Carta.
- PANTAY Alliance
- Carlos: We’re helping them in two ways: the first is thru Kapekonomiya. They are also asking our help in producing their primer
- Free Market
- Jem: We’ll be releasing ECONcepts by the end of the month and Free Market by next week. Also, this Friday, we’ll have two tutorials: Econ 106 Balanquit and Math 100. For Math, we don’t have tutors yet, but Charlotte Amante na for Econ 106.
- Jackie: Idea about the Free Market, I think we can do an article sa mining, since Prof. Monsod already released an article about it.
- Econ Week
- Chito: May partnership na kami with NCPAG and USC. So we’ll do that sa Tuesday ng Econ Week. This will be under Good Governance Initiative. We’ll provide the logistics for this but ako na bahala.
- STRAW Updates
- Howie: Sa DG on death penalty, may confirmed speaker na from Amnesty International, but wala pang name. Kinausap ko na si Ma’am Navaro, but she declined na kasi ayaw niyang magpakita ng political side. We’re trying to get Hon. Lagman, but wala daw siya, so we’re trying to find someone from his staff. Nag-confirm na yung CHR para i-endorse yung event, kailangan na lang raw ng list of speakers. Nag-confirm na yung ETC, IGNITE, and USC. Follow-up na lang yung sa SEAC. I’ll try to pub ng Sunday night. Sa mental health infographic, I talked to Ma’am Sanggalang, na meron daw silang talk about it, so we plan to include na lang the services of UP of counselling. May isang DearSTRAW complaint regarding the parking. Sa front parking, sabi ni Rianne, na tatanggalin na yung harang, but bigla silang nagkaroon ng construction ng gutter. Reiterate ko lang yung sinabi ni Ma’m Kraft na for the cement ng parking, next year pa mangyayari, including the adding lines. For the plant boxes, nag-follow up na ako if pwede nang matanggal.
- SAC Updates
- Aaron: Reminders from Earl, Schoolympics on Mondays. Juniors vs. Sophies, then Freshies vs. Seniors, 6pm ang start. I’ll forward to Earl na lang yung concerns regarding the Balanquit class.
- BRA Outreach
- Jackie: We plan na magkaroon ng build. Naisip namin though if pwede makausap yung sa social entrepreneurship ni Emira, but then we don’t know how to make it more of an outreach since tour lang daw yung ginagawa dun.
- Pat: Pagmagb-build tayo with Habitat, mahihirapan tayo kasi wala pang new sites malapit sa ‘tin
- Pat: Can I just add na when we think of this, I think we should have something na value-adding for both parties. Na hindi lang siya just giving back to the kids, and that we can also understand something from them.
- Jackie: We plan na magkaroon ng build. Naisip namin though if pwede makausap yung sa social entrepreneurship ni Emira, but then we don’t know how to make it more of an outreach since tour lang daw yung ginagawa dun.
