Summary of the Meeting:
- GA Tidbits
- International: China calls on North Korea to suspend missile tests
- Local: House of Representatives say yes to death penalty
- UP: UP takes on Project NOAH after DOST dismantles it
- Other: Kris Aquino had sprained ankle, posting on social media for the longest time
- Sidhi Updates
- Carlos: Francis said that he cannot go because he'll be meeting someone from the National Mental Health Association. I guess it has something with his transparency.ph thing. I told him that we'll not be giving him the Sidhi money until he talks with us. 'Yun lang. Go Sidhi.
- Fin Updates
- Joel: So our total money on hand is Php61,594 and dito, wala na 'yung Sidhi money dito.
- Carlos: And the contingency fund?
- Joel: Andun pa rin, hindi pa nakasama.
- Joel: For next week rin, sisimulan na namin yung cold treats. For non-food, like the DilGames jersey, we talked na ibebenta namin 'yung jersey with profit Php150. All in all, kulang pa tayo ng around Php1,000 for the Econ Week expenditures. Do you guys have any questions about this?
- Carlos: Kunwari yung food stuffs everyday, for the rest na hindi maibenta, either you or your Core pays for it?
- Joel: It's good as sold, but then this is a conservative estimate naman.
- Carlos: But BRA outreach is Php8k, which is gonna happen sometime this month, with Alay sa Personnel with additional Php1k, and we have one month to Schoolympics.
- Carlos: Kunwari yung food stuffs everyday, for the rest na hindi maibenta, either you or your Core pays for it?
- Gabbi: Regarding the food sales, I think we have to be really madiskarte when it comes to our IGPs kasi some people really find the things that we sell a little bit expensive. Kailangan natin talaga maghanap ng other way of having money.
- Chito: Lahat ba nung merch is from the previous Council?
- Joel: Hindi lahat
- Carlos: Do we have an inventory of all the merchandise?
- Joel: We have to update it.
- Consensus: Council will have a merchandise sale.
- Joel: So our total money on hand is Php61,594 and dito, wala na 'yung Sidhi money dito.
- Econ Week Updates
- Paje: I just want to give you an idea on where we are now.
- Kiss: So far, na-secure na namin with Tanduay and Red Bull. For URC, they haven't replied yet. We're trying to look for other contacts if kaya pa. We also sent a solicitation letter to Ma'am Quimbo, and we're still waiting for updates
- Paje: So for us, the biggest challenge is finding a venue. We found that Place One was the best place, though over budget ng Php3,000. We were willing to shave off naman the price from other stuff; but then when we had a quotation, it amounted to Php28,000. The budget for Econ Week is Php73,000, which I presented sa plansem. Our options now are if to push for Game Theory at Place One and make it work, or do we not push through with Place One. The alternate venues kasi are Xavierville Clubhouse, the one in White Plains. Xavierville is Php5k, but the ones in White Plains is as far as I know is Php15k.
- Paje: My only other updates naman is the batch performances. I just want to have updates from you. I'm expecting something fun or solid. I just wanna remind you guys that this is just like to showcase other barkada performances, na friendly siya.
- Paje: For promotions, main pub is Thursday. DPs will be on the March 19th. Batch Reps, please pa-brig na lang.
- Chito: For my updates, SE 114 ang venue. And NCPAG Chair yung person in-charge sa 'min. Please attend lang my event.
- Consensus: Council will use Place One as the venue
- *Guingon leaves 5:10 PM*
- EdRes Updates
- Jem: So for updates, Kape will be pushing through on the 23rd. Venue has been reserved na. Speakers include Galang PH. Risa Hontiveros is sending a video speech because she can't go to the event. We'll try getting Geraldine Roman as another speaker. Right now we're still missing one more speaker; since it's multidisciplinary naman, we'll try getting a Sociology prof. Ecosoc and DZUP partnered na. For corporate sponsors, wala pang sumasagot na coffee company and wala pa talagang nagre-respond. We can also resort to Paru Coffee, and last resort is Kratos. ETC is handling the pub naman na. For expenses, ETC will be handling it since may kulang pa sila sa 'tin.
- Jem: Nag-post si Carlos last night sa LCC group about International Women's Day. Are we all okay with changing the DP for SESC?
- Consensus: Yes
- Jem: Basta for sure either tonight or tomorrow, we'll release a statement against the passing of the Death Penalty. I wanted to ask you if may iba pa kayong ideas how we can concretely show our stance.
- Carlos: The Tanggulan Network, which is an alliance with us. I'll just finalize lang the details regarding their mobilization and that we can ask Econ to go with us. It's one of those rallies where we believe in the same thing.
- Jem: Tomorrow, there will be two tutorials for Econ 161 Abrenica and Econ 131 Yap. Tutors namin for 131 is Danes Cruz and 161 is Leo Rivera. Then tomorrow's event for Frienship Week is DG Decon, so our topic is about free education but given recent events, would you be interested in changing it to death penalty, since kakalabas lang 'nung news about House of Representatives passing the Death Penalty Bill.
- Carlos: I would propose that since ETC has a stand-making DG, we can talk to them tonight, kahit resource speakers lang rin from ETC.
- Gabbi: Though this would be the third DG that we'll have from ETC.
- Jem: Also, we'll probably release two more Free Market articles. The topics neoliberalism and the rise of nationalism and something haha. Basta we're gonna have a disclaimer at the bottom, since for all naman 'yung Free Market.
- Jem: For Econcepts, I was planning to release it at the end of the week, but then may plan tayo to release a statement and the pub of Econ Week tomorrow.
- Death Penalty DG Evaluations
- Jackie: As of now, wala pa rin talaga tayong venue for this kasi yung organizations, yesterday lang sila nag-reply. First, 'yung Heart at Play, im-meet namin sila tomorrow. If ma-book natin sila, yun na yung magiging BRA Outreach natin. So plan namin mag-send ng partnerships over the weekend. 'Yung sa Flyers naman, meron na daw silang event for their anniversary, so bali hindi siya exactly na-outreach. They said that they have a counterproposal, so we're just waiting for them. Regarding sa costs, 'yung plan to have a workshop with the children and the games for the children lang yung gagastusan. Doon naman sa mga batch reps na mag-shell out ng money, what if mag-assign na lang kami per batch reps yung pwede mag-provide ng certain needs.
- Friendship Week Updates
- Pat: Thank you supporting Friendship Week so far! Ang sad lang kasi 'yung Magic Sing kasi hindi siya nag-work. What I'm thinking is maybe I can rent the karaoke on Friday na parang whole day lang siya 'dun and ask the person if pweds hinaan yung volume. If you guys have contact ng karaoke people, paka-usap.
- STRAW Updates
- Howie: Na-refill na 'yung medkit. Also good news, makakabili na ako ng Buscopan Venus. BRA, pa-brig na lang na kumpleto na uli yung sa medkit. Next is update fro Ma'am Kraft. 'Yung first story is kay Joel, and the other is 'yung kina Jannico's case. For the infographic na mental health sa OCG, tatapusin na ni Lotlot 'yung content. Gusto ko lang i-flash sa harap yung parking guidelines na ginawa 'nung Monday.
- SEEB Reminders
- Kiss: Filing of candidacy is this week and the deadline is on Friday 12nn. Hope na nakakuha na kayo ng certificate of good moral and True Copy of Grades. We'll be repubbing the guidelines tonight.
- Lem: We'll have a meeting soon to amend parts of the electoral code. There are other parts that aren't applicable. For those who will run within council, please review that are in the SESC Constitution, especially the qualifications for office.
- Lem: For the benefit of the minutes, we'll be strict in compliance of the candidates on the electoral code.
- Magna Carta Updates
- Carlos: So what we'll do is not tell your stories explicitly, rather get an overall arching theme sa mga stories niyo and just put it in one blanket statement. So if you're friends are afraid na makikilala sila, you can tell them naman they are safe.
