12. Other matters
- World: US-China trade intensifies as Xi Jinping says tariffs on car imports will be cut this year
- Local: Tension arose ate SC Baguio Compound when supporters of CJ Sereno clash with the man who filed a peachment complaint against her
- UP: UJF until April 13 at the Bahay ng Alumni
- Random: Cardi B is pregnant
2. Career Talk Evaluations c/o Cams & Iyla (5 mins)
- Cams: In terms of finance, no problem. For logistics, we had problems with the audio since they had AVPs. Point for next time is to get the vids beforehand but retain the room. In terms of publicity, the reach was high but attendance ws low because of timing. There were classes, exams and forums at the same time. The reach then doesnt mean that a lot of people go. So, we plan to make an event page in order to ensure attendance. For BRA, please help brig snd post in batch. This was my favorite career talk so far but it saddens me that not a lot of people got to go since they missed out on good speakers.
- Iyla: For the next career talk, we have Loice Nipa from Coins.ph for Operations, Tricia Canaveral from First Circle for Fintech.
- Howie: You need to look for a replacement for Flora since she told me that she has a trip then.
- Cams: What do you guys feel about moving the career talk to a different day like Thursday?
- Yana: I feel like it’s difficult to set it on working days.
- Howie: You can wait for the things happening that week.
- Iyla: We can;t move it since there’s an ecosoc DG on May 3.
- Cams: We’ll just need to hatak.
- Howie: There weren’t more than 10 people that were non-SESC so I felt bad that not a lot of people got to benefit from it.
- Yana: People don’t really go unless there are incentives. Like for the resume workshop, people had to wait for a talk that had incentives after the talk so they waited there
- Jackie: It would be nice to pub that people could give their resumes to the speakers. It could be emphasized and saturated like that of Career Fairs so people are enticed to go.
3. Alon Bazaar Evaluations c/o Kevin (5 mins)
- Kevin: We earned 14k. The execution was okay since they were good on their own. We only had a problem on Wednesday since there were two sellers that sold the same items since one didn’t declare it. We’re surplus of around 20-30k so we’re good.
- Howie: Do we have anymore bazaars?
- Kevin: No more; just the Econ Week shirts on Tuesday.
4. STATA & R Seminar Updates & Tasking c/o Louise (5 mins)
- Louise: The speaker backed out since he has to attend a seminar tomorrow.
- Howie: You should ask him to look for a replacement.
- Louise: I already emailed Jandoc and Jhiedon.
- Howie: Is Francis free tomorrow?
- Louise: He’s busy as a PCM.
- Howie: You can try to ask again.
- Louise: Everything was okay already. My plan was to make it like a tutorial instead of an event so it’s more interactive if ever Jandoc agrees.
- Jackie: Jandoc might not be as engaging or comprehensive.
- Louise: I asked some batchmates who got uno in 131 but they can’t.
- Jackie: Jiwan Tai is good with R.
- Iyla; I have a 131 Florentino exam tomorrow so it might clash.
- Howie: Do you wanna move the talk so you can book the same prof?
- Louise: I’ll ask Seloso if he’s free on Thursday so we can move it then. At least this way, it doesn’t clash with the meeting tomorrow.
- Jackie: IT’s difficult to hatak from my batch since most of them are done.
- Louise: If ever, it can just be like a tutorial for my batch. I also have a concern since most of the people from my core are running so I can’t find a replacement.
- Yana: Sophies can take charge of BRA outreach so far.
- Louise: The 3 of us can work on it.
5. Alay sa Personnel Updates c/o Bets (5 mins)
- Bets: It’s on April 20, Friday, 11:30-1pm. Who can’t go? Jolo, Ian, Yana
- Who can host? Josh and Louise
- Who can take care of food distribution? rest of SESC
- Bets: I’ll be meeting my core most probably next week since it’s hell week right now though the program and logistics will be more or less the same as last time.
- Howie: Coordinate with Joaquin regarding the pub. Will you also take care of invites?
- Bets: Yes I’ll remind them day before.
6. EdRes DG Updates c/o Iyla (5 mins)
- Iyla: The profs are unresponsive so I don’t have any speakers yet. It’s about federalism but what do yu think about changing it to Free Educ?
- Josh: The IRR was released but there aren’t a lot of peopel talking about it yet.
- Howie: The thing is, the contents might be the same as the bill.
- Iyla: Louise has the contact number of Sir Pilapil so I’ll talk to him. The venue is ready. My core has also been pretty unresponsive.
- Ian: I can merge my core with Iyla’s so we could help out.
7. Community DG Updates c/o Ian (5 mins)
- Ian: Plan kami ng Dgs ng core ko, naisip natin na hindi na matuloy sa community; topics proposed; federalism and foreign policy of duterte; merge nalang with edres
- Howie: tuloy sa saturday?
- Ian: It won’t push through. We’ll work on the Edres DG instead.
8. HIV Testing Updates c/o Josh (5 mins)
- Josh: The contact hasn’t replied. Do you have any other contacts? If you do let me know.
- Je: I have a contact.
- Josh: Okay, we’ll get in touch with that one and follow the initial one up.
- Cams: You can ask the USC for contacts.
- Josh: If they don’t reply tonight, I’ll ask the other contact. This will push through next week.
- Howie: Please reshare Dear STRAW.
- Josh: Okay, I’ll reshare this weekend.
9. Sidhi EIC c/o Paje (10 mins)
- Paje: Elain cancelled her interview today since she had a presentation to do. Javi’s suggestion was to get both of them since Elain has time.
- Howie: Will their ideas clash?
- Paje: I don’t think so. They’re friends too so I think they can work along with Javi. We can further discuss it during Midsem Evals.
10. Agenda for Dean Selection Meeting c/o Paje & Ian (10 mins)
- Paje: Tomorrow, 4PM. Since the STATA/R Seminar is cancelled, I expect to see everyone to go.
- Ian: There are guide questions for the selection of a dean so I’ll read them out to you: academically excellent, compassionate, approachable, updated on relevant issues, pro-student, inclusive, committed, honorable, engaging and persuasive.
- Ian: The common traits are inclusive and engaging. For the specific plans: junk 4-sem rule, magna carta support, white paper on Duterte, ensure enough solts for classes (but this is more on the Dept. Chair), more support for competititions, support for orgs, integration of non-Econ majority in SEAC orgs, standardize consultations with students regarding the curriculumr evisoin, more interactions and presence with students, push for research from junior research team, incease academic advising for undergarduates, support different advocacies of student orgs, fix problem with BA subjects.
- Paje: The College Secretary is in charge of SEAC, not the dean.
- Ian: The last question was if you have any suggestions. Some said Ma’am Magno, Ma’am Kraft and Sir Arcenas. How will the agenda work tomrrow?
- Howie: I’m not actually sure but how I think it will go is they will ask us what issues we want addressed.
- Je: Do we have power when it comes to the selection?
- Paje: I think it’s just protocol for the students have a say.
- Jolo: When are they targetting to choose a new dean?
- Howie: His term ends on April 30 so next month.
- Jolo: So it coincides with the college sec’s term?
- Howie: Their term ends at the end of the year. I’ll check the minutes and look for things to bring up in the meeting.
- Iyla: Do we have org heads present?
- Paje: I’ll tell them.
11. Midsem Evaluations c/o Head Office (10 mins)
- Howie: Our problem is the projector isn’t working
- Paje: Does someone have an HDMI cable so we can plug it to the TV?
- Bets: I can bring.
- Paje: If it’s a sleepover, we can go together to Scav. Let’s meet up at 4pm and leave UPSE at 4:30pm.
- Yana: I have a Psych exam that ends at 4 but it might extend so maybe 4:15?
- Howie: Okay.
- Paje: Let’s meet at the bust by 4 and start at 5:30.
- Howie: How are the external evals?
- Bets: I haven’t checked how many responses we have but please continue to fulfill your quotas. I’ve posted the midsem tracker so you don’t end up ,essaging the asme people. It’s always been more effective to message people personally.
- Yana: What are the quotas?
- Bets: 30 for Seniors and Juniors. Ideally all for Sophies and Freshies but if you can’t, 30 will do.
- Howie: The deadline for the evals, internal and external are on Wed so we have time to fix the ppts.
12. Other matters

- Howie: BRA and Councilors, please help with attendacne for Schoolympics.
- Howie: Campaign period starts tomorrow but is not a valid excuse for missing events.
