II. Freshie Elections Updates - Sophomore Batch Representatives
- Pat: Na-move yung elections since SE 101 cannot release the official list of freshies yet. Kailangan before they vote, na-assess na sila. And since wala pang form 5, wala pang definite date yung elections
- Dylan: We also contacted sir Benny na pero it’s okay na it’s just SE 101.
- Vina: You think na ma-aaffect yung turnout ng elections?
- Dylan: We will release minutes naman on the convocs so mare-refresh na sila.
- Andi: My concern lang is that in the old consti it says after a certain number of weeks from the start of classes, we need to have a freshie batch rep na. I’m not sure if its in the new consti, but we have to double check with it. It depends with how we interpret the constitution.
- Dylan: It’s not in our hands na kasi the list and they wanna consider everyone who is able to vote.
- Andi: I think it’s a conflict of interest kasi eh.
- Zion: May update ba yung RVC or 101 regarding assessment?
- Pat: Wala pa.
- Je: Article X Sec 2: 2 weeks after class started; Yes it’s stated in the consti but given the context na it’s out of our control na no form 5s yet and IDs, it’s out of our hands rin.
- Reg: It can be interpreted as a problem with the constitution.
- Josh: I think the consti assumes a perfect situation kasi.
- Reg: Is there any other way to determine if a student is enrolled?
- Je: Right now, technically we aren’t enrolled since wala pang Form 5s.
- Josh: We need to wait for the list talaga since we can’t ensure na enrolled sila. Kaya ata na postpone yung UFC. Uncalled for naman yung situation.
- Je: Concern is, madedelay lang tayo with having no freshie batch rep yet. Like Akwe, our shirts, house rules so that they have a say with the house rules. So we have internal issues without them.
- Andi: Question lang, do the freshies know the reason why?
- Josh: Yeah we posted naman
- Dylan: Feeling ko naman abot siya before akwe since we emailed na and hopefully by next Friday.
- Vina: We just need to be vigilant with the 3 candidates since they might use this as an opportunity to campaign,
- Je: So you guys decided that campaigning should stop?
- Dylan: Yes
- Je: Did you also clarify that they can’t make new pubs and re-share? Like their friends or PCMs nila, we can’t really control when they share. But, I think masunurin naman sila.
- Josh: Okay so we just need to wait for the list. How about evals for convocs?
- Pat: It started and ended on time naman
- Dylan: There was a lot of freshies rin. Okay naman yung mga hosts. Siguro nalang, di natonong yung individual questions ng council since we ran out of time. Its good rin na we got to collect questions from the forms
- Pat: The freshies are saying thank you rin for the convocs
- Dylan: Sabi din ni Josh perfect mix ng seriousness and fun.
- Je: Question lang, may mga na-cut na parts since marami nagsubmit sa g-form?
- Dylan: Medj late rin kasi nag start and the freshies came from class. Pero marami talaga kasi nag-submit sa G-form.
III. Core GA Updates - Chairperson
- Josh: Core GA is on Friday 11:30 at SE 114. That’s it.
- Vina: Potluck concern, ano yung plan?
- Josh: Im gonna ask you guys if you want to buy or we cook the food. Kasi during our time, during Core Gas, Howie assigned all to buy food for their core. But, it doesn’t limit you to get from only your core. You can make a deal with the other councilors to buy food then share nalang sila. Up to you guys nay un
- Andi: Good for how many?
- Josh: depends on your core. I’ll post a pub later for sensing
- Je: Di ba dapat, baka okay if you sense how many comes then that’s what we divide among the councilors. Then good for that number of people. Like if 60 will come tas tig-4 yung councilors.
- Josh: Do you guys like Je’s idea? Okay naman siya fair naman siya.
- Vina: councilors and batch reps right?
- Josh: Yes. Batchreps are counted as 2.
- Je: If average though, mabebenefit yung mga malalaking core. But it’s kinda unfair for batch reps since dalawa sila.
- Andi: Pero it’s not like the food is just for the core. Everyone gets din naman eh.
- Zion: Okay lang naman din samin.
- Dylan: Okay lang din.
- Shin: G rin ako.
- Josh: Okay na kayo sa ganun?

- Je: Also another issue, if we will potlock or contribute?

- Reg: If walang core di ba magbabayad?

- Josh: That’s why we’re gonna sense. But you guys are gonna pay pa rin. Okay na tayo sa dividing the cost?
- Je: Since may ambagan, when are you gonna collect?
- Josh: I like the burger idea para we can pay on the spot. Tapos, since parang GA yung vibe. Magprepresent kayo so powerpoint per councilor na for the month. If you’re not in the GA, let your core member present for you.
- Zion: General plans?
- Josh: yes para alam ng iba.
- Orallo: paano yung samin?
- Josh: introduce lang branding and your core and what you guys do ganun. Pakilala mol ang mga ginagawa ng M&P. No deadline, just make sure you show something on Friday.
IV. ASEO Updates – Vice-Chairperson
- Reg: Evals of the opening of org fair, so far, maganda na naka-attract yung ice-cream and it was full since it was lunch. Aside from introducing the orgs, we forwarded rin the campaign of freshie ban since we had a USC speaker. Kulang lang yung freshies na pumunta but it’s okay the upper classmen have a big effect on them. Yung council di lang masyado yung nakikinig (sa program). For today naman, okay naman but nagkapalit yung tables. Like the table of CAP went to DebSoc, but it’s okay. For tomorrow, my concern lang, I’m not there the whole day. Baka may puwede ulit mag-ingress and egress. Yun lang naman if ever. Also there are online forms for apps. The other orgs lang like CAP it’s not their rec week. So they’re just there to plug their projects.
- Vina: We should encourage them to post sa batch 2019 group
- Reg: Giselle asked me if ETC could post a pub in the batch group pero I felt bad cause one org was the only who asked so I told Giselle na sa chat muna.
- Josh: Suggestion lang, add them sa group and they can advertise there
- Je: They can address questions rin there.
- Vina: I have a concern lang, 2:30-4 (my shift) wala masyadong pumupunta. How else can we incentivize that time slot?
- Je: Pero kasi dead yung time na yun is cause may class.
- Josh: Anymore?
- Je: For succeeding org-fairs, let’s consider the time. So maybe next sem, we can make it time specific. Like before we made it day-specific (2 to 3 days). But now we noticed na there are dead time slots so maybe that’s what we can consider.
- Reg: Naiisip ko kanina na other ways on how to recruit for orgs. But if ever, we’ll look into it since ASEO has evals.
V. #MakeItRight DG Decon Updates - Vice-Chair, EdRes, and STRAW
- Vina: Actually, I wanna ask you guys if you guys talked to a lot? Yesterday, I talked to a group of freshies and sophomores about the Magna Carta and FRB. Today wala.
- Andi: I was there during lunch time. There wasn’t many people, but those who went already attended the DG.
- Vina: Did people sign na the petition?
- Reg: One page lang. Ipapaikot ko sa orgs bukas and council can sign rin.
- Vina: Tapos, question, sa tingin niyo ba effective if we start going around tomorrow? Not just ikot?
- Josh: g naman
- Vina: Wala ako at si Reg bukas. Okay lang ba?
- Je: Is the Decons mainly targeted for freshies?
- Vina: no naman if they’re willing to listen and participate
- Je: For me, if sa back, it’s not really the freshies there. And definitely not sa tambayan. So it’s most likely sa lounge although its mixed (other courses). If you guys are g to decon with different students why not.
- Vina: Reiterate ko lang that invite them to ask questions. Cause what happened yesterday it was just talking. Then, like Je said, go lang kahit di freshie.
- Je: Feel ko rin since we are weighing their time, I think some parts of the Decon is not being discussed enough. Although we can’t discuss all and it’s a campaign, we kinda give biased examples on the magna carta. It’s important that the cons are brought up, since, yes we are campaigning for it, but we should be critical about it as well.
- Vina: STRAW is also making an infog on the pros and cons of the magna carta
- Andi: So will we still go around?
- Vina: Yes we will still go around.
- Reg: Suggestion, feeling ko, our next Decon
- Je: It’s mine na it’s similar. The situationer, mainly my core will help me so we are planning to have our core situationer first then discuss how we go about it. I might ask you guys to come just to help the freshies approach upper classmen.
- Reg: Yeah so my suggestion, we need to train as council on how to RTR. Like tayo mismo, kaya naman natin, it’s just that kung paano lang tayo mag-salita. Dapat nga yun yung last year (a goal), to train the council
- Vina: Kasi di ba may situationer si Je na Decon style. For SinPaMore it’s also like that during Tuklas, so ask ko lang, is it effefctive?
- Josh: For me, it’s okay. But we should also go around
- Je: For me, Decons, its like the first wave of dissemination. If you’re talking about the bulk, it’s more effective with visual content that will help them know more about it.
- Josh: Okay. Sige next na.
VI. Acquaintance Party Updates - Internals
- Giselle: So yung Akwe is next Friday na, is that okay?
- Je: Yun talaga sinet sa plansem.
- Giselle: So the plan for akwe, is that we want to end early since we ended 11 last year. We will start 5-5:30 and then yung dating di na siya amazing race type of games, the plan is mini-games. Puro stations siya (simultaneous games) then there is a main game na parang round robin yung dating na per batch na magkalaban. It’s more efficient than amazing race since it has less to fix and it takes less time as well. Then what we’re thinking is how to encourage the batch a week before, like JC, it might be a video. The theme is “It’s more Fun in UPSE”. Na delegate ko na yung task. For programs, at the end of the week may initial plan na yung games. Weekend, may teaser na for akwe. We are looking for possible food for akwe. I think since I am in charge for log and fin, we’re trying by weekend, makahanap na kami ng possible supply ng food. Di pa na-approve yung budget, basta what I presented in plansem, yun pa rin yun (7k).
- Josh: May sukli pa sa Gpak right?
- Giselle: 4k pa ata yung sobra from Gpak and Orsem. Pero di sure. That’s all lang naman
- Je: From last year, one of the reasons why late yung start, late dumating lights and they had a problem rin with the lights (blue instead of white lights). Remind them nalang to come on time.
- Josh: Give an earlier time nalang. Orallo has lights and sounds connect daw.
- *Dylan is back from the bathroom*
- Pat: Kailan ma-iinform yung batch reps for the games?
- Giselle: Pagisipan ko kung surprise or not
- Je: At least let them know how many people.
- Klause: May cheer pa ba?
- Giselle: We are still thinking if may cheer pa na gagawihn.
- Josh: any more questions?
- Klause: may cash prize ba?
- Giselle: 1,500.
VII. STRAW Updates
- Andi: So, first update, tuklas is moved to Sept.18-19 for more time to prepare and sabay na yung DG ni vina. Emails have been sent out na to NGOs and we will start to send for org partners. For org partners, where can I get?
- Josh: LCC lang
- Andi: And for dear straw, I talked to ma’am magno na on the ant and mosquito problem so they are looking for the supplier nalang for the fumigation. For short-term solutions, I bought na mosquito repellants in the hygiene kit also Baygon for the bugs. But I don’t wanna leave it sa tambayan since baka mawala so Reg, please tell ASEO its just there. 2 concerns lang for dear straw. One is a problem na the women’s restroom is always locked and they want to tell admin to keep bathrooms open at a considerable time. So, I talked to ate if they have a schedule for cleaning, sabi ni ate there’s no schedule they only clean it if may putek yung floor. And she said parating maputik. I checked when the sign was up rin and di naman maputik. I feel like she forgets rin to remove the sign after she cleans.
- Josh: Talk to tita baby or tita tet about it rin.
- Andi: Sige. And then, the second concern, it’s about the parking lines since parking is a struggle.
- Josh: You can’t really put paint since there’s rocks
- Andi: Klause’s idea is that we put the lines on the start of the road as a guide for parking instead of the gavel. If you guys are G I can ask ma’am Magno about it. I mean it’s a short-term solution but realistically mababawasan yung parking sa econ but its safe since maraming banggaan sa econ.
- Josh: You ask ma’am Magno about it
- Reg: Puwede rin naman dapat may standard size lang. Naalala ko si Ma’am Kraft kasi ayaw niya palagay yung lines
- Josh: she put lines sa front I requested for that.
- Reg: baka we can also release an infog on parking etiquette if they wanna park there.
- Andi: Other update, there is no aircon sa first floor since nasira yung breaker. I don’t know when it’s gonna be fixed but Ma’am Magno said they’re fixing it. If there are people who ask just let them know
- Je: Kanina tho, sa 114 meron?
- Josh: One side lang meron
- Andi: Last concern from Dear Straw, there are too much other people from other colleges sa lounge and nauubos yung food.
- Je: baka we can inform Tita Ging na dumadami yung customers baka they can adjust.
- Josh: The thing is, the first few weeks of classes dinadagsa sila but then it goes down. Pero gets naman.
- Je: We should see if it persists the next few weeks.
- Orallo: dumami din kasi yung freshies
- Josh: We’ll see.
- Je: Also, it also implies that the usage ng lounge is limited since there are people outside the lounge since wala nang space
- Josh: That happens na kasi ever since before.
- Andi: nothing we can actually do.
- Josh: It’s just life there is scarce resources so we maximize our resources given the budget. Is that all? Okay sige thanks Andi.
VIII. Grad Students Check-Up - Econ Rep. to the USC
- Je: Fast lang to’, here is the form, I showed it to Andi and she’s g. Just to inform everyone, the check-up has 2 parts, first part on services and intiitatves so that they know our current services and initiatives and so we can know what they wanna see. They usually ask straight sa admin if they need something, like the use of the cubicles in the lib. So I asked them what the SESC can offer for them so that we can address it as early as midsem or second sem. Another question is if they ever used any of the intitiatives. For me, I feel like they see us during reg lang. Part 2 is on stands and statements. First question is strengths and the second is how we can further improve. We want to make sure our stand and statements as SESC reflects Econ since we have undergraduate AND graduate programs. Reconciling both perspectives will take a while since they have more experience on the technicalities. I will email it to Tita Millet so that they can read it and they can forward it to the Grad Students. I will also make use of the database we gathered during reg. For econ rep, there is 2 events for august. First, the bulletin board, I will discuss nalang with orallo kasi medyo na push back siya. I will let my core look into the GASC files, USC files, which are in the works. My core will help on how it will be more understandable to the freshies. Yun lang, and by august naman yung deadline ng USC bulletin board. Second, for situationer, I will take into account our suggestions from earlier.

IX. Incoming Partnerships - Marketing and Alumni Relations
- Maui: Updates on EM partnership, I talked to CDC, separate entity yung service project so different set of sponsors. For this year, SP will be like Kidzoonia. What they want from us is that we set up a booth. Are you guys okay with that?
- Josh: G naman. Is there anyone against it? Wala naman. Okay sige. No more questions? Thanks Maui!
X. Next GA Schedule - Chairperson
- Josh: So next Wednesday, holiday siya so we need to find a different day for GA. Bawal Tuesday since may 2:30-5 class si Suanez. For Thursday, may bawal ba? Or if you guys want Monday? Or push through with Wednesday kahit walang pasok? Or puwede Tuesday 5:30-7pm? All those in favor for Tuesday 5:30-7? *10 people*
- Josh: Thursday 4:30? *5 people*
- Andi: Di ba our GAs are really until 7?
- Josh: Yes so.. okay Tuesday 5:30 tayo.
XI. Other Matters
- Vina: I just realized maraming suspensions next week and we do not have a definite date on elections and the Form 5s and akwe is next Friday na. feeling ko by Akwe, wala pa tayong Freshie Breps. Would it be possible to move akwe?
- Josh: I have 2 suggestions, if we move it, we need to check ASEO orgs if there are events if not, we proceed with akwe with no batch reps pero the block heads would work (who are more pa than 2 batch reps) so kaya. So kailangan i-coordinate yung block heads na sila muna.
- Je: I think the idea is good talaga with the block heads?
- Klause: are any of the candidates block heads?
- Jv: Yes 2
- Josh: well it isn’t an opportunity to campaign we are just using their influence in their block. We just post a reminder about it
- Je: one concern lang we usually just coordinate with 2 reps but with the block heads it’s a bigger crowd.
- Maui: also, maraming freshies yung blockless
- Josh: its by group na so its okay.
- Mikah: For SE-Ning there’s one submission so that’s what we will publish on Sunday. I will bring the Sungka tomorrow. Before akwe, di na siya Filipino games, competitive sungka na siya. And for Edance 22 na kami (2/3 freshmen)
- Zion: Minor lang, sisimulan na naming yung rummage sale for seniors. Can we leave the box here?
- Shin: Basta ayusin niyo
- Josh: Yeah basta tell us when you guys need to get it.
- Zion: so any time, we just approach council?
- Josh: Yes. Okay back to Giselle’s decision.
- Giselle: So technically, wala pa akong plan on how akwe will go and I haven’t decided if surprise yung games, pero for me, yung important lang yung hatak for batch reps, pero I’m okay with the block heads to hatak and I’m g rin na I will ask one of my core for their point-person.
- Josh: So basically the block heads are for hatak and the core is for the point person.
- Giselle: Yes. So the core can used the block heads if may cheer or whatever.
