13. Other matters
- World: Avengers beats Star Wars The Last Jedi by billions
- Local: Secretary for Tourism Teo resigns
- UP: One EEE student commit suicide last week
- Random: Met Gala Today; theme is passionate bodies and Catholicism
- Cams: We didn't have a hard time with attendance since we partnered with Ecosoc. The reach of the pub was okay. There were also no probs with log.
- Iyla: There were 4 committees who organized this (Liai, Acads, Edres, MARC) so it was a lot for an organizing body. There could be more planted questions for the speakers.
- Je: Maybe it could be like convocs where people could ask questions anonymously.
- Howie: What did the speakers think?
- Iyla: Tricia found it okay and it was good that there were a lot of internship opportunities.
3. SESC x Ecosoc DG Evaluations c/o Iyla and Gelo (5 mins)
- Iyla: I was happy that the program flow and expected output was followed. What we spent was within the budget except for the Grab of the speaker.
- Gelo: The first speaker was kinda mad that we used bottles for the drinks since he gave terms and one of them was not to use plastic. Another problem was that the second speaker backed out.
- Iyla: There were a lot of people who went also because the probation list for Ecosoc was released so thank you to Ecosoc for helping out with attendance.
- Iyla: When it was the awarding and sir Ludwig asked for a picture, a lot of people left already thinking that it was over since people left but there were still people who participated in the statement making.
- Je: Attendance could have been improved since the event was really cheap (P150). 8-9 people went since 2 backed out. Phan said it would be okay to partner again though.
- Howie: Do you think it would be okay to repeat for next year?
- Jackie: I noticed that the Phan students were a little hands-off when it came to baking but we were lucky that Bea knew how to bake. The recipe wasn’t so good too since the soufflé was more savory.
- Howie: To the next SAC, maybe it is something you can continue.
- Kayla: We were really few since only 4 were from Council and one girl from ISM.
- Yana: It felt pilit to do it.
- Paje: We couldn’t do much since there was already a program. It was fun but it could have been more value-adding.
- Kayla: The first half was good but the second part wasn’t as enticing anymore.
- Je: I don’t think it was pubbed enough that you could get 2.5 counts for it.
- Kayla: There were people who signed up but didn’t come.
- Steph: I think the problem was that the confirmation texts weren’t sent early enough.
- Bets: Maybe next time the confirmation could be through a facebook group chat so you get to see who have viewed the message and make sure that the message sent. If ever people back out too, they can always leave the group so you have a clear head count.
- Ian: For the next SESC, maybe you can look for an institution that could work long term.
- Iyla: A factor could also be that there was a CDC event in the morning so people couldn’t go anymore in the afternoon.
- Yana: We got there a little late so I think the call time should be earlier and we should leave on time because if we wait for people they might think that we’ll always wait for them so we should set a brand for that.
- Je: It was solid since 121 was discussed.
- Cams: 15 people signed up initially but on the day itself, there were only 10. Some people didn’t reply then others had an interview. For the content, they said that it was nice because finance was discussed.
- Je: Price stability, transactions, cost push, demand pull etc were discussed along with other concepts. HR opportunities were also presented so it would be nicer maybe for seniors since they’re really looking for people to hire. They have scholarships as well even from high school until you graduate and eventually work for them. Their office was really nice. They have fiscal autonomy from the government so they get to use their money well.
- Paje: Are they salary graded?
- Je: Their salary’s competitive and they have compensations.
- Cams: Maybe next time, we could work on attendance and timing.
- Je: Their auditorium could fit 70+ but we were only 10. Their director was also G to come here if ever. Their target for scholarships to Ivy League schools are UPD students.
- Paje: But you would have to work for them.
- Howie: The improvements in the end should be pub sharing and earlier date for the event since a lot of events were concentrated on May and it was also all in one week.
7. Happiness Project & HIV Testing Updates c/o Josh (10 mins)
- Josh: On Wednesday, we’ll have sticky notes and random tokens. On Thursday, we’ll be having the pay-it-forward initiation. We’re also going to have a pasabog where the cutest note will win a bucket of chicken. On Friday, we’re going to have a mini-concert with John Lobo and Jackie performing so far. The cutest barkada will win a pan of Jolly Spaghetti.
- Josh: For the HIV testing, they were supposed to be here Thursday-Friday but they said they had to be somewhere on Friday so it’s just going to be Thursday. I’m going to have it in the UPSEAA and Idea Room.
- Josh: BRA, please brig med kit is okay already.
8. Hell Week Initiative Updates c/o Jolo (5 mins)
- Jolo: I’ll be giving out the oreos and iced tea on Thursday and Friday since it’s hot so maybe coffee wouldn’t be the best idea. I still have in the condo. Who can bring coolers since I can bring the ice? Paje
- Jolo: I’ll be having the last set of HUPSE too. I’ll see when I can interview Ma’am Sweet.
9. Schoolympics Updates c/o Je (10 mins)
- Je: It’s going to be on Monday already, 8-5pm in UPIS. We’re finalizing the program. We’ll be having Futsal, Ultimate (in Sunken), Basketball (men’s and women’s) and Volleyball. I’ll be asking profs for incentives but Jhiedon is already okay.
- Howie: BRA, please confirm your teams since we don’t have time to move it anymore then tell Je if they can make it.
- Javi: For BRA, maybe we should set a deadline for when we complete our teams.
- Howie: Confirm by Friday.
- Je: Do you wanna add mini-games? It might be able to encourage attendance. I’ll try to bring a video game station as well.
10. Sidhi EIC Final Decision c/o Paje (5 mins)
- Paje: The final decision is Diego and Elain.
- Howie: Will you release a pub?
- Paje: Yes and well be having our first meeting tomorrow.
- Javi: Elain’s going to be in charge of content while Diego works on the website.
- Je: Where will you be getting the fund?
- Paje: They have money from the SIDHI fee and for the next council, they can collect a fee.
11. Lib Consulation c/o Howie (5 mins)
- Howie: No one wants to be Dean, not even Ma’am Magno, so they extended Dean Solon’s term to 3 years. The faculty decided on it. The lib staff said that Dean Solon has a 3-year development plan for the lib. The big idea I ave for it is to go paperless. The lib is asking if we can come to the consultation with the Dean and lib staff in the lib tomorrow. Who can go at 3pm? Minimum of 5 and hopefully the seniors and juniors: Iyla*, Jolo*, Howie, Cams*, Bets*
- Je: The thesis in the 3rd floor are really nice but it would be better to digitalize it. Maybe this plan could work on that too. It could be made into a database. UPSE could also buy online data for those who will need it for thesis. You could also get orgs to come
- Paje: Invite the acad alliances of orgs.
12. Legacy c/o Head Office (5 mins)
- Paje: Every year, we have Legacy which is a turnover ceremony. Usually, there are also awards and nominations so we can work on that tonight. We have best dressed, tambay sa lib, sana kayo nalang, crush ng bayans, etc. I’ll be giving BRA a form. For the program, it was at the back parking. Turnover of work happens during Transsem though. We need to find a time next Wednesday. We’ll set it to 5:30. Please wear white.
13. Other matters
- Je: What happened with the statement was that the decision for the exam retake was abrupt.
- Howie: We didn’t sign the statement because we didn’t reach quorum for the G.
- Ian: What contentions were brought up? Since USC made it, I could bring it up. Maybe the issue is small compared to the repression of press freedom.
- Je: I feel like more than repression of freedom, it is the Board of Judges’ problem.
- Jackie: The decision made was questionable considering that it was made on very questionable grounds. Even BOJ was questioning Pernia’s decision.
- Howie Either way, given that there are contentions with the statement itself, I won’t sign it yet.
- Paje: Won’t it reflect on us if we don’t sign it?
- Ian: There’s a precedent.
- Paje: If it’s like that, then it’s okay. Let’s motion to join the statement.
- Howie: Let’s read the statement again. I’ll reply to Yael later given that we have reached consensus.
- Bets: Please release Alay pictures since I’ll be tweeting the second to the last set of Alay Bdays.
- Iyla: We aren’t allowed to reserve rooms after May 11.
- Howie: Paje, please post in the SEAC group regarding this.
