Summary of the Meeting:
1. GA Tidbits
2. Secretariat Concerns c/o Bets
6. Shiftees & Transferees’ Orientation Updates c/o Javi & Yana
1. GA Tidbits
- World: Typhoon Harvey landed in Houston and is coming back to Louisiana (8-12 inches of rain)
- Local: Airbus seeks larger share of PH helicopter market
- UP: Deadline of assessment is tomorrow, August 31
- Random: Students from Kyoto-Sangyo University visit UPSE
2. Secretariat Concerns c/o Bets
- Bets: Please be mindful of your attendance in our events. Everyone has to attend at least 2 SEAC meetings and 1 LCC GA. Miguel, how often are SEAC GAs?
- Miguel: It’s up to the discretion of SEAC.
- Bets: Okay, given that, do your best to go to SEAC meetings as soon as they’re scheduled.
- Bets: I’ve already uploaded the Citizen’s Charter in the upsesc.com. Please take the time to read it. BRA, kindly share the link to the services once we pub it.
- Jolo: For one, we didn’t get to use the bonfire, but it was a blessing in disguise that we got to use the bust since it served as a better alternative.
- Jolo: I think we would have had more people go especially from my batch. Congrats to the Sophies.
- Howie: Were the orgs well-represented?
- Jolo: Our org reach was a little lacking.
- Miguel: UPDS had a dinner.
- Howie: Maybe we can invite earlier so SEAC can block it off.
- Jackie: The bust was really nice since we felt a lot even if we weren’t complete. It made it easier for people to join since we had to stay together.
- Jolo: Carlos was the right choice for a host.
- Howie: How are we with money?
- Jolo: It looks like we’re going to save 8-10k. We never short on food.
- Howie: What was your difficulty in making hatak?
- Kayla: It was a long weekend, so a lot of people had plans.
- Jolo: It was an opportunity to bring the batch together like the Sophies. It wasn’t about their number but their participation.
- Javi: It was a good opportunity for the shiftees and transferees since it was their first glimpse of UPSE, so props to Jolo for polosihing the image of UPSE.
- Angelo: We really took it seriously cause we had 3 practices and we thought it was serious but it was actually all just fun. Those who could go really went, around 3/4. I like how we finished the plank race even if we weren’t in the lead.
- Kevin: I think the pub was a little late, so I feel like it’s one way of letting people block it off.
- Joaquin: We were supposed to plan the events on the first day of class, so I think we could calendar it better next time.
- Jolo: My mind got divided in pubbing Akwe and Freshmonth since there were a lot of events under it. It was also a new concept, so I had a little difficulty going about it, but it was okay.
- Jackie: I liked the games because we were really pumped to join with how competitive it was. Also, Akwe was a new concept so it was really different.
- Jolo: We weren’t allowed to have a medic on standby. You have to let the UHS know so we had the back parking cleared in case the ambulance was needed.
- Jolo: I think the difficult was the fact that Freshmonth was a new idea. Next time, it would be easier for the batches next year to be familiar with the concept of Freshmonth. Maybe it wasn’t a hit because we couldn’t really get it to the Seniors or Juniors were new to it.
- Iyla: I liked the theme. At first, I didn’t think we’d pull it off but in the end, there was cohesion. The theme was really integrated into the nature of the event.
- Ian: Freshmonth has a lot of potential since it really brings UPSE together, so maybe next year it could get better and better.
- Jolo: Net year, maybe we could make it 2 separate words “Fresh Month” so people don’t think it’s short for Freshie Month.
- Howie: Props to the Freshies for the attendance for the whole of Freshmonth.
- Iyla: Maybe the events could be set as soon as the the start of Freshmonth.
- Kevin: Unfortunately, it rained so let’s look forward to the next bazaar in Technohub again (October 16-20). To be transparent, we expected 89k each but 6 backed out so we were down to 17k.
- Howie: Let’s try to go the next one too to support.
- Josh: On Saturday, Howie and I will be providing transportation. Call time is at 6AM so we can leave at 7AM. As of now, we have 28 volunteers. The Parish Priest has an event for the families in Boso-Boso so the new venue is in Sapang, Cavite.
- Howie: For those who can’t attend, please make the extra effort to hatak.
- Miguel: SEAC is G for it, but UPDS has a tournament.
- Josh: CAP has an event, but the orgs that signed up are okay in terms of number.
- Josh: Each person will be assigned to a family. We will gather in one place and be distributed from there after an orientation.
- Ian: Maybe you should release guidelines like DOs and DONTs before the event.
- Josh: We’ll be asking the volunteers to bring simple tokens for their foster families.
- Howie: Let’s make sure it’s posted beforehand to those who signed up.
6. Shiftees & Transferees’ Orientation Updates c/o Javi & Yana
- Javi: Ma’am Magno will be speaking in the first 5 minutes then fill in the rest of the time with students who will give casual experiences about org culture.
- Yana: Jolo can plug internals events.
- Javi: I was hoping we could get money for this to reimburse Yana for the previous room reservation.
- Cams: We need 4 people to go to NCPAG for a partnership event tomorrow, 4-7pm.
- Cams: We need 5 members to go to a SEXhibit launch on Wednesday lunch time.
- Cams: We may possibly get the Council shoot for free if we have primers printed by Zone5. It depends on how much we have printed.
- Cams: Mp3rd is willing to partner with us.
- Joaquin: Maybe you can make a tracker so people know who has to go where.
- *Je arrives 5:58PM*
- Ian: I noticed that the 4-sem rule was trending last week, so maybe we can use it as a build up for E-Consult. I was really planning it 2 weeks ago, but we had to focus on Free Eduk and the Kian incident happened.
- Ian: I will upload the content of the pub this weekend.
- Ian: The Culminight for UFM will be performing in the SE Audi tomorrow.
- Ian: Tomorrow night, you may immerse yourself in the Lakbayan Activities at the Quezon Hall.
- Ian: Pride Week is next, next week, so let’s be g to partner with them. Or if not, let’s try to go.
- Je: All the batches are game on Tuesday.
- Je: Next next week it’ll be in LGV for Volleyball.
- Howie: BRA, please talk to your team captains.
- Je: Joaquin, please make a pub.
- Je: We might partner with Ecosoc regarding a museum visit with the Admin’s kids.
- Jolo: Next week, I’ll start planning it and hopefully get it done by the end of the week. I’ll implement it next week while I get the materials. I’ll talk to Tita Rose so she can endorse me to the Library.
- Jolo: Also, I plan to release a thank you pub for supporting Freshmonth and give away the X-deals.
- Howie: It took a while for us to finish the statement since we wanted to be as careful as possible. I need to know if you guys have any contentions before we release it. I’ll give you guys until Friday to go over it.
- Joaquin: Cams has been talking to Zone 5. It’s 1k + per person with photographer, but it might be free. If not, we can use Camera Cart which is 700 per hour.
- Howie: The LCC GA next week was scheduled at 4-6pm at CAL. The agenda is college updates, Magna Carta DRW co-convenership. LCC will decide at this time if LCC will co-convene with DRW. Expect a long dsicussion before it’s settled. I can’t be there at the start, so Paje, Iyla and Je will be there.
- Jackie: STATA Seminar next Tuesday. We’ll release an internal pub first then one in the SESC page.
- Iyla: Tita Evelyn is reminding us that assessment ends tomorrow.
- Josh: We have org partners, sponsors and NGOs for STRAW fair.
- Bets: I’ll be tweeting the first set of Personnel birthdays, so please like and share!
