Summary of the Meeting:
- GA Tidbits
- Local News: Bagyong Ferdie, naglandfall na. Signal 4 in Batanes ○ World: iPhone 7 preordering has been opened
- UP: Nag-hold ng art aucQon ang UP College of Fine Arts
- LOL News: They named a gorilla in Japan as Harambe McHarambeface
- STRAWnger Evaluation
- Howie:
- Weaknesses
- Late ang pub, but that's because late nag-confirm ang speaker.
- During the event, it was okay naman
- Strengths
- It was well attended
- Naka-tulong rin na nagbigay ng CDC counts ang Ecosoc
- Okay rin yung topics na kinover nila, 'yung talagang basic lang
- Advantage rin na nakaQpid kasi if we get Philippine Red Cross, we have to pay pa, unlike Red Cross Youth
- Comments:
- Earl: Ang galing 'nung nag-demo. Engaging rin 'yung speakers
- Chito: Siguro more parts of the program na maka-participate 'yung students
- Paje: I think we really need to choose which topics are for the students talaga, like tailored for the students.
- Tin: Dapat na-maximize yung time.
- Carlos: For other councilors rin, we can talk to SEAC orgs about attendance
- Weaknesses
- Howie:
- Alumni Meeting & Lantern Parade
- Kiss: We came in with no money, we came out with 10K. We presented the Lantern Parade, esp. about what Earl and I talked. We discussed na SEAC orgs can contribute to the design of the Lantern Parade. A certain alumnus said that he's willing to give Php10,000 as prize money for the contest design of the Parade.
- Carlos: Siguro for this, Kiss, Paje, and Earl, I think we can create the guidelines for the lantern design.
- Kiss: This Oct. 22, we have our upcoming Alumni Homecoming. Ma'am Quimbo said that she wants Council to be there.
- The Alumni Homecoming is an outdoor event we can sell anything and everything. We just have to ask Ma'am Quimbo for a space.
- The elections of the new UPSEAA Board. While they're voting,
- We're assigned to collect the ballots and count it during the event.
- They want a student performance, preferably E-Dance. Special request ni Ma'am Quimbo na mag-rap si Jolo Zagala. We can probably open this to people, and combine it to a one big number
- Kiss: Free ang alumni homecoming to students
- Carlos: We need to make a pub for the announcing of the design contest of the Lantern Parade.
- Kiss: There's a meeQng September 15 at Dr. Arcenas' office with alumni. • CumniNight
- Paje: We came up with the idea to downsize the CulmiNight and make it a grand pakain for Lantern Parade, but the money that we'll save will go to Econ Week. Do you guys feel the downsizing it is a good idea?
- Jackie: Yes since marami ring hindi nakakapunta sa CulmiNight since umuuwi na sa province
- Pat: Let's not just pub it as just a grand pakain vibe.
- Trina: I feel that maybe the personnel looks forward to CulmiNight
- Consensus: Scale down the CulmiNight and move the budget to Econ Week instead
- STRAW Updates:
- DearSTRAW
- First response
- Regarding NSTP and missed lectures
- Chito: I think we can talk to them to hold a mini discussion group regarding the same topic
- Jem: Tita Rose said that the topics cannot be credited if it were held as a discussion group. She said that if you missed a lecture, you have to look for an alternative lecture in other colleges
- Carlos: Can we write to the NSTP Office?
- Howie: May iba pa kayang paraan para ma-remedy natin ito?
- Carlos: I think while writing to the NSTP Office, we can talk to Tita Rose.
- Consensus: Jem will talk to Tita Rose if we can hold a small discussion-group like thing for NSTP, and Howie will write Q the NSTP Office.
- Second response
- Regarding the student lounge
- Mainit ang lounge because hindi naka on 'yung aircon
- Howie: I plan to bring it up with Tita Fely sa SE 101
- Third response
- Regarding the library
- Masyadong maingay ang library
- Lem: I think we should coordinate with the library officials about imposing their rules properly
- Chito: I think we could have reminders about this.
- Jackie: Sana maganda rin na i-disseminate na meron tayong discussion room for groups
- Carlos: For Acad Alliance, is there a way that Ma'am Kraft will allow people to use a room for discussion purposes.
- Fourth response
- Regarding the parking space
- Why the Econ backparking cannot be exclusive
- Howie: It's not feasible na bantayan since konti lang ang guards natin
- Carlos: I can bring that up with the Law Student Government regarding the parking
- Josh: Hindi ba pwedeng i-develop 'yung parking sa bandang dulo?
- Howie: Masyadong mahal. According to Ma'am Kraj, it will take half a million to develop
- Fifth response
- Regarding the freshies' instructor
- Betina: Whenever we have discussion classes, the instructor doesn't teach very well rin. She doesn't attend Ma'am Monsod's lecture class, so she doesn't know what to teach.
- Instructor Rodillas is the name of the instructor
- Carlos: Can you please consolidate this concern para maisama natin lahat forwarded to Ma'am Kraft. If it still continues, then let's start talking to Ma'am Monsod na.
- First response
- DearSTRAW
- Tutorial Room Concerns
- Jem: Though libre yung room for events, we have to pay for over-time of the maintenance.
- Carlos: I think we could about it na parang we can use a couple of rooms for different subjects, before the over-time.
- Consensus: Look for alternative venues for the tutorials. We can use the different floors of the building for tutorials if need be. We just need to make sure that the tutors are prepared na talaga. On Mondays, we use the rooms on business hours.
- Sec Concerns (C/O Lem)
- House Hightower handled council bits for this week. However, they weren't able to give on Monday. They gave it the day after. They also didn't give today. They'll get deductions.
- For next week, House of the Night's Watch will handle council bits. They're also the ones assigned for cleaning the room.
- Someone messaged the page re: locker #12. Batch reps, if any of your batchmates have problems with their lockers, please contact me immediately.
- Please use the internal council services form for your requests. If you don't do that, you won't be able to get what you need. You have to fill that up. Let's give Tin also the courtesy for filling up the form.
- I'll also be convening my Secretariat Core tomorrow. They're excited to work with us. We'll handle Alay sa Personnel, council board, council room, and everything.
- Tin: For the council board, I'll be putting up our pictures already. We also need photos with your Core.
- Lem: Can we set a day for photoshoot of all of our Cores?
- Tin: We can set a date. We just need a camera.
- Chito: What's the process for reserving the room?
- Lem: Tell me, I'll make the le"er, and then I'll give it to SE 232. Chito: Do we sQll need to go to SE 101? Lem: Not anymore. You just need to give it to 232. They're the ones who will contact you.
- Jem: Can I file an internal request for multiple dates and multiple rooms?
- Lem: Go ahead.
- Kiss: You need anything from me for Alay?
- Lem: I just need money for food and the room. I also need SEAC.
- Pat: Let me know soon.
- Lem: I just need money for food and the room. I also need SEAC.
- For the council bits, the file is buggy in my laptop.
- Tin: I can use Google Slides for it, it might make it easier.
- Lem: My back-up plan also is to designate it to my Core.
- Tin: I can do it tonight if you want also.
- Lem: It's pubmat form.
- Lem: If you have any concerns with other councilors, please tell me so that we can settle it.
- Other concerns:
- Jem: Biglaan ang exam ng Econ 141 Clarete. I'm hoping Council can help with the tutorials.
- Kiss: We're okay na with the honeycomb, lacoste-type, with soft-feel polo shirts. It's Php320 and the dri-fit is Php345. I'll get the payments on Sept. 19.
- Carlos: Guys, please remember that we are partner for the Pride Week and attend all the events that we can attend.
