- Dylan: World News - Spain is set for another election - its fourth in four years. Acting Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez made the announcement on Tuesday, having failed to secure enough support in parliament to form a government. King Felipe VI, the head of state, spent two days consulting with rival party leaders, but no consensus could be found on a candidate for prime minister. The election will take place on 10 November. The last one was in April (https://www.bbc.com/news/amp/world-europe-49736118).
- Mikha: Local News - Ombudsman probe shows 24,000 convicts freed 2014. MANILA, Philippines— An investigation by the Office of the Ombudsman revealed that at least 24,000 convicts had already been freed since 2014. Ombudsman Samuel Martires said the figure was based on documents submitted by the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor), which they validated from the records of the Senate (https://newsinfo.inquirer.net/1166050/ombudsman-probe-shows-24000-convicts-freed-since-2014?utm_medium=Social&utm_source=Facebook#Echobox=1568793603).
- Reg: UP News - The Fighting Maroons put down the National University Bulldogs in an 80-79 showdown at the Mall of Asia Arena! UP is now 3-1 for the season! (https://www.facebook.com/phkule/posts/2413405065407093)
- Orallo: Random News - BEIJING (China) - Spain completed their undefeated run at the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 in China with a 95-75 victory against Argentina in the Final to capture the Naismith Trophy at the Wukesong Sport Arena in Beijing. Ricky Rubio paced the winners with 20 points while Marc Gasol added 14 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists to lead the Spaniards to their second World Cup title, repeating as champions after a 13-year break. Their first title also came on Asian soil in Japan (http://www.fiba.basketball/basketballworldcup/2019/news/spain-recapture-fiba-basketball-world-cup-title-in-china).
II. DG Decon Updates - EdRes
- Vina: nagsimula na kami magikot for the dg decon and so far okay yung pag receive ng students since when we go around they also ask naging mas interactive siya. I gave my core a quota which is 25 heads per shift. They always report rin that they exceed which is good. Tomorrow tuloy yung ikot sa lounge and tambayan. Marami kaming nakausap sa tambayan, tomorrow more sa lounge.
- Je: Were you able to talk to a lot of people?
- Vina: Oo they exceed their quota
- Je: Yung composition?
- Vina: Usually mixed. Na witness ko na sa tambayan a lot of year levels siya sa okay naman.
III. Tuklas Updates - STRAW
- Andi: NGOs who went today - (13 dapat there’s 1 who didn’t get to send to send the MOA back in time) Childhope Asia Phil. - It was good naman so far, but then the the weakness nalang siguro are the orgs that needed extension chords. I put those who requested for power outlets near the sockets, but I’ll just note that we need more extension cords in the future for contingency. Tapos yung colgate, di nabigay, so tomorrow nalang. Tapos we need to do our part of our MOA with them (photo). The foot traffic was fine just please for those who are on shift, remind the people who sign up that they have to complete it. It’s kinda pointless to have org partners who did not complete the fair. Before I forget, ang kalat ng council booth. So please CLAYGO nalang tomorrow.
IV. STRAW Updates
- Andi: I talked to tita tet, they said that they already sent a letter requesting for a fountain outside the lounge. I also requested for trash cans sa back so meron na. And nangyari na yung defogging for mosquitoes and other insects, but then someone came forward again regarding mosquitoes in the tambs, I told them nalang that there is baygon. But then, they said that it’s too strong and they suggested katol. We thought of that pero fire hazard, but since they want, I’ll get a katol per org. Ill check muna how much and I will talk to reg on who per org can be in charge of that. Guys please tell your batch reps that there is off lotion in the hygiene kit.
- Je: Kasi yun nga, na raise na rin before, na if we continue being the ones who supply the materials on preventing mosquitoes, we will have to keep supplying and it’s not sustainable. We might want to encourage the orgs to do their own measures in preventing.
V. Chairperson Updates
- Josh: On Friday, everyone is required to go 11:30am sa AS. Please wear black. If may class okay lang, puwede late. If may sasama sa amin sa luneta, magsabi kayo so we can consolidate it. Also, if you have batch mates coming please let us know.
- Reg: Last year lang, nakulangan kami ng car pauwi so dapat magsabi talaga if pupunta.
- Vina: To add lang, sa martial law initiatives natin we will post na the crony capitalism pub on Thursday. Initially dapat Friday siya, but it won’t be as visible so tomorrow nalang.
VI. Stand Making Updates - Econ Rep. to the USC
- Je: Updates muna sa count, thanks for starting to message people. Initially, I was supposed to rtr yesterday but there was no classes, so what happened was kailangan talaga ng double effort online. Tomorrow I will start RTR ulit and on Friday hopefully. With regards to the responses, so far, nasa 100 people na yung na pm. But for the responses talaga, 35 pa lang. It’s 1/5 of the minimum target. And remember we will have stand making by next week so we should keep asking. For grad students, I have contact naman so I can start asking them about it. Sa G-Sheet just put the names. Since by batch siya, technically walang lamangan, it’s okay to put it in your name I’ll still count it as a batch. Just make sure don’t overlap with who the others are pm-ing. That’s all naman for the updates. Tapos for Econ Rep, since we had a USC GA nung Friday, just an update, we talked about issues especially on finding accountability for cases. Tapos yung SFA appeals, they’re working on it na (there’s a committee). Tapos for the dorms, they’re opening na daw Acacia but I don’t know when. For the Bakwit schools, if any one wants to donate, let me know since I have the contact. Yun lang naman
- *Andi arrives from egress*
- Josh: When will we do stand making?
- Je: One of the concerns kasi 4 people won’t be available on Monday since they have an exam the following day (121). Reg has a suggestion na during GA but the thing is our GA would be too long and there are council members with curfew. And 27 naman GT siya and ASEO GA. What if we reschedule Monday, September 30, after NSTP? Di ba dapat 23 so we move it a week later.
- Josh: Our 186 exam is the next day
- Je: So wait okay does it follow na since we moved the original stand-making GA cause of the 121 exam, it follows that we move the Sept. 30 since 186 exam? Cause it will be too late na pag October siya
- Reg: Parang GA na yung option
- Je: It might be too long kasi. My estimate for the standmaking GA will be 3 hours at most.
- Josh: Kung gusto niyo, agahan nalang natin magaral
- Je: So it’s either on Monday (before an exam) or Wednesday (pero super haba ng agenda). Yung stand making naman natin babagsakan natin yung mga ilalagay sa statement.
- Josh: So either September 25 or September 30 or October 7. *voting* So stand making is on September 25.
- Je: Oh also you can answer the form yourself rin.
- Maui: People are asking what the difference is between endo and contractualization is
- Je: Endo is when the contract ends in 5 months, before the worker must be regularized by the company under the Labor Code and contractualization is the broader term since it can refer to other forms. Pero endo falls under contractualization.
VII. MAR Matters - Marketing & Alumni Councilor
- Maui: Since napostpone yung Econ At Work, for transparency, collete and I were talking about it when lumakas ulan, we involved council, and we decided to postpone it. So we’re deciding on moving it on October 7. Yung NEDA econ @ work naman, I proposed to the head office that we have a target number sensing. Cause sa BSP naman marami sumagot pero konti lang pupunta. So we wanna make sure na di sayang. Tomorrow pala yung colgate pick up, may +500 sa house na magpipick up.
- Vina: Try natin kumuha ng incentive sa profs for the mga econ at work para mas marami pumunta.
- Maui: wait walang makakapick up tomorrow?
- Mario: what time?
- Maui: Between 8-5pm. If wala, Monday na yung next.
- Josh: Ako na
- Maui: Okay sige.
VIII. Wellness Week Updates - SAC and STRAW
- Mikha: October 2-4. So October 2, it may change from Yoga to pamper day since Mary k is offering a workshop for free. They just haven’t replied sa email. Tapos Thursday, for alay yung apple tree. Tapos last, Zumba, tapos we will give a prize to the most neon outfit.
- Andi: So basically on the straw side, we have 1) HIV Testing- contacted na just waiting for the reply, 2)Dog Day- additional t bringing dogs, we will make it advocacy based, we’ll email paws and foca by next week 3) Coloring by Numbers Mural 4) Free Coffee (core member assigned).
IX. SE Games Updates - SAC
- Mikha: For SE games, I went to DAR, tapos they have a court and I had the 19th pencil booked. Should I make it 19-20 and half day each or whole day? Or 19 then the 27th?
- Klause: Ano ba balak sa first day prelims? Tapos finals?
- Mikha: Yeah
- Klause: How about get a smaller court nalang for finals.
- Mikha: Yun yung suggestion but 20 yung or 27?
- Klause: 27
- Mikha: okay so, babalik ako dun tomorrow to fix the sched then I’ll make a letter. Then we’ll look for a smaller court if ever for the finals. The games: basketball, volleyball, patintero, bridge, and dodge ball. In all, around 26 people will be needed sa batch.
- Je: Suggestion lang, you do the rules for each game and make it clear since it became an issue last year.
- Klause: Also medyo natagalan yung medical team as in walang nakaplano.
- Andi: some technicalities kasi about the venue was the reason on why there was no medical people on standby (bawal tumambay dun)
- Maui: Also iffy ako sa Sunday, pa sense nalang if available sila on Sunday and make a back up plan if di available on Sunday.
- Jaro: Same, tell the batches the suggested dates, sensing muna
- Vina: Sana rin mas mainvolve yung council sa planning since last year we were not very aware with SE Games. Parang nung ginawa natin for OrSem na may GA before, it becomes more efficient.
- Andi: We can include the captains sa chat and GA
- Mikha: Yep I will
X. Other Matters
- Jaro: As you all know, we’re financially struggling so if you have suggestions for IGPs please let me know. Dapat kasi the bazaar is this month, and that was for SE games, but since yun nga nadouble booking nung manager ng technohub yung October reservation natin, it’s on november na. But I’m in talks with other councilors from other colleges for possible partnerships.
- Klause: Ano target?
- Jaro: Yung maliliit kasi kaya gawan ng paraan (merch), yung malalaking projects lang medyo mahirap so yeah. And last year during SE games, wala rin pera, so gelo paid for SE games muna. Usually wala kasing bazaars ng early months of the acad year since maulan so october usually una.
- Vina: Kung kailangan natin ng money fast, I feel like we should do na large scale IGPs like food fair sa sampaguita or here (if puwede).
- Reg: Yung sa food fair, kailangan lang ipaalam sa baba.
- Maui: Also nagiba yung rules this year since may bayad na and restrictions, like an org can have the food fair once calendar year lang and kailangan may special event kang nangyayari for the food fair.
- Jaro: In UPSE?
- Maui: No, in general.
- Shin: You guys can loan naman sa batch namin but how sure are you guys na you can pay us back within the year
- Mario: Yeah we just wanna hear assurance
- Jaro: Basta I’ll coordinate nalang with you guys.
- Josh: Okay update lang sa LCC GA, nagbigay ng updates si OSR, previous OSR, then stand making on free education.
