- Tuklas
- Andi: Tuklas is cancelled because a lot of the NGOs backed out . We only got 6 cause of covid and when the situation got worse, some of the 6 backed out. Scary din to push through with it cause it’s a large gathering when we go back.

- Diwa
- Andi: I’ve been thinking if we should offer virtual counselling but I am waiting for further news cause I don’t know the situation of the organizations like if they have connection to the internet and if its possible at all. So, I want to hear your thoughts. Option 1 is to continue the normal Diwa when classes push through. Option 2 is that my core and I are going to text those who signed up to see if there’s a demand for it if it becomes virtual. If there’s a demand, then that’s when I’ll contact and see what the orgs’ situation and if they’re willing to do it.
- Josh: for me, I think we shouldn’t do online counselling cause we don’t know how it works and they might not be comfortable with it.
- Andi: I just wanna wait and see what’s gonna happen. I’d love to start contacting as early as now but we’re still not sure when we’re coming back. If we go back to school, I’ll schedule it probably a week before finals.
- Zion: Feel ko rin agree ako kay Josh cause we don’t know how to do it online and it might be open for misinterpretation rin.

- Wellness Week
- Andi: for wellness week, I messaged our partner for Dog Day and HIV testing and they just said to let them know what the updates are. I just need to know when we will go back to class to schedule it.
- Mikha: For Yoga day, kaya naman siya, since my target is 5-7 people for that. And for Spa day it depends pa since it requires contact, but we’ll see what the situation will be for the next few weeks. So most probable lang yung yoga day.

- BRA Outreach
- Shin: Basically, when lumala yung Covid, wala na rin nagrerespond so our efforts are paused. As of now, umaasa pa rin kami na if class suspension isn’t pushed, we may push it super late.
- Mario: So one of our suggestions nalang is something online like donations, but we still need to figure it out.
- Shin: Basically, when lumala yung Covid, wala na rin nagrerespond so our efforts are paused. As of now, umaasa pa rin kami na if class suspension isn’t pushed, we may push it super late.
- Econ. Week
- Giselle: We’re not sure if matutuloy siya cause technically, the main concern is mahihirapan yung MAR, Log, and Fin. Like for Fin, there’s no time for IGPs, and for Log, they need to go physically for supplies and to look for venues. And because of the quarantine, they can’t do that. If we push through na week long event siya sobrang gipit pa rin sa time. Concern din nila yung requirements kasi for sure may mga maghahabol. So if stressed yung students, mas mahirap to hatak. Pero may nag suggest na one day event nalang siya na games during the day, Gpak, etc. At least may celebration pa rin.
- Reg: Nagmeeting na rin kami ng ASEO heads, medyo hati. Yung iba, gusto i-cancel, and some want it postponed lang since nakapagprepare na sila. Like some of them have speakers and ideas na. So, if ever, yung iba, they’re still willing to celebrate econ week na modified na one day nalang na sem-ender or something.
- Josh: Masyado pang maaga to determine what will happen next since stuck pa tayo sa uncertainty. Like we don’t know what’s gonna happen pag April na. Pero, basically, sobrang daming uncertainty so to determine if we should turn down an event immediately for me wag muna, kasi baka may chance pa na maayos. But on the other hand, Uncertainty kasi so there will be less time for planning and execution. So it’s too opportunistic if we think we can continue. So I’m not 100% for cancelling or pushing through. So for the planners, isipin niyo nalang if you guys can plan and execute it. We just need to wait for the announcement of the admin before doing something first. Like for Tuklas, don’t entirely cancel it muna. Let’s base it off sa response ng admin before we completely cancel. Cause if the sem extends for example, baka kaya pa.
- Reg: Sasagutin ko lang yung concern ni Mitch na baka mawala yung essence ng Econ Week celebration if one day lang. Feel ko hindi ko naman siya mawawala yung essense. Since at the end of the day, at least you got to celebrate.
- Giselle: if one day, I think we should just change the name just for this year.
- Reg: Or baka Econ Day nalang.
- Josh: If technicalities yung issue, it’s okay basta we should see if it pushes through or not. If ever we have time to plan, it will still be econ week. Pero if we have not enough time to plan, it will just be a day. Yung choice lang ba one day or one week?
- Giselle: Oo para may option
- Reg: Feel ko parang it’s either one day or cancel talaga.
- Josh: So di na mapupush yung one week?
- Reg: Kasi yung one week, magfofocus na sa acads yung mga tao since pushed back and baka hindi na pumunta yung students sa events and may social distancing threat pa so yun
- Josh: So either cancel or one day nalang?
- Reg: Di ko sure pero feeling ko lang yun.
- Josh: So we don’t decide yet?
- Giselle: Feel ko no
- Josh: Is it too early to decide?
- Reg: Yes
- Josh: Sige let’s just wait for admin announcements
- Je: Ask ko lang kay Maui if may nagpull out na sponsor or they’re just waiting?
- Maui: Right now they’re just waiting (yung pending sponsors). I told them we would talk about the events first before we negotiate with them. So, so far, everything is on hold. Inaantay lang namin yung decision ng events.
- Je: So you guys sent a notif na on hold muna?
- Maui: We sent a notif that it’s on hold muna
- Giselle: We’re not sure if matutuloy siya cause technically, the main concern is mahihirapan yung MAR, Log, and Fin. Like for Fin, there’s no time for IGPs, and for Log, they need to go physically for supplies and to look for venues. And because of the quarantine, they can’t do that. Pero may nag suggest na one day event nalang siya na games during the day, Gpak, etc. At least may celebration pa rin.
- Andi: Sa Dear Straw, wala masyadong concerns about classes but the only concern was the 162 people. The ones not in dear straw, so far, most of them are about classes and profs asking for deliverables. Very few econ classes but the only class was the 198-Suanes class. But sir moved the deadline naman. The main concern lang is what constitutes the light load. People are confused with the different memos coming out since iba iba yung sinasabi. Yesterday, UP released a memo na puwede yung assignments and readings prior to suspension so they’re confused. Yung non-econ classes, I sent it to USC (Tierone). Aside from classes, I asked BRA to ask their batches if there’s anyone stuck sa dorm who couldn’t go home so far wala naman so buti nalang.
III. Finance Updates
- Mitch: So tapos na yung bazaar, the first week we had 19 merchants and 7 back outs. The second week 15 merchants and 13 backed out. They backed out because of low sales and the second reason is covid. So noong Thursday, we stopped the bazaar because of the lock down since nagrereklamo na rin mga merchants. And we couldn’t make singil cos wala nang benta. Di na gumagana na fixed cost yun pero we just considered the situation. More or less we profited 70,000 even if we didn’t meet the target. May isa pang pending na di nagbabayad so -2,500 pa siya. Main problem lang is the one merchant with a 500 balance. Our expenses was 150,000 and the gross was 300,000 and we halved with our partner and napunta sa atin yung 70,000. I am going to cancel sana the pins since 1500 yung paggawa. And no one ordered the tote bags so we cancelled that. And for t-shirts and sweatshirts, I don’t know if I should place the order na cause we don’t know when we are going back. For the rummage sale, depends pa rin sa situation but if we don’t need pa naman the money there’s no pressure to IGP. More or less 76.000 yung money natin and if we repay our debts, we still have around 60,000 for us.
V. Econ. Rep. and EdRes Updates
- Je: So for the online GA ng NYC, updates lang, all the UP cases are negative. For the OUR, we requested a deadline for dropping. No reply yet so same muna yung deadlines, but they’re moving their system online so you can apply for those online. If you’re a dormer, they’re discouraging people to go to the dorms and for Econ students wala naman naiwan sa dorm. For Kalay, they have food for UP students. For OVCAA, online classes memos were released and you guys are right na medyo confusing siya so we want to clarify so we sent an email to sir Jerwin. We’ve received a lot of questions nga like with the 198-Suanes Class, like is it still light load if it’s a final project. For PE classes, CHK SC is still consulting with professors so far, wala pang updates and for the library books, waived yung overdue fees. Quarantine in UP, limited yung amount of people who can enter. UHS is open 24 hours so anyone who needs to go there can go there. UPD Psychserve is shifting to an online therapy through FB, skype, and google hangouts. Do you guys have other questions? Last, we have a donation drive for the jeepney drivers, maninindas, up staff, etc. The donations have reached 100,000. So ayun lang naman for USC updates.
- Maui: May updates ba kayo for elections? Since last I know na move yung meeting and we all know April is election season
- Je: We were banking on that cancelled meeting but since di siya natuloy, right now we’re still waiting. I followed up kela Sean on the calendar for that para ma-inform sa UP Front people. We just know it won’t be totally online. For EdRes naman, nagdecide kami na di na tuloy yung OnAir na ED and the Abante Babae ED since we can’t reach out the database ng alums since the database is at econ. So our plan is to do the econcepts for women’s month and for economics of media. Right now, sinisimulan na ng team although for the alums for abante babae, we will email female alums the questions for the abante babae ED. If you have any questions you want to include you can tell me. It will be 10 questions and they will answer it like an interview. So yun nalang yung online initiative for women’s month. For On Air, we’re starting the research. One more cancelled event is on the politics of numbers (pre-election surveys) because of the quarantine. Assuming we’re coming back from lockdown, people will focus kasi on acads na so it won’t be feasible. Nakahold yung on ground initiatives like the acad kit, but we will stock it up once we get to go back. Yung sa statement naman for Covid-19. Just an overview of it. Pa-check nalang siya if you have comments or suggestions. Just to give context it talked about the economic impacts on a broader scale. If you wanna make it more specific, g lang naman but people might not read text heavy statements, so I tried to make it as concise as possible.
VI. Econ. Admin. Updates - Chairperson
- Josh: Ma’am Magno sent emails na to UPSE regarding the survey for internet. If someone is not able to survey form, that means mahina or walang internet. So Ma’am will give us a list of the people who hasn’t submitted a survey and we will verify if they really don’t have internet. So this will be per batch again so the load will be shared with everyone. Wala pang updates on what will happen with the sem, so we need to wait for it since wala pang decision and some profs are adjusting for now. So dapat for now, dapat walang exam or homework na binibigay.
- Je: So wala rin updates for grad?
- Josh: Wala 0 talaga.
VII. COVID Council Plans - Chairperson
- Josh: So ma’am Escresa called me yesterday about some social support system for the students and infographics. So the first, yung social support system, basically our work as a council, we need some kind of support system by finding a way to reach those students with no internet and to make kamusta the people sa econ not through brigging sana. So it will be the work of all batches. 2 questions that will be asked is: kamusta yung family nila and if they need something. If may risk na-expose sila (also family members), we are obliged to tell the dean since they will be referred to the hospital na may connection si dean in. So we have a plan with regards to that. And second, iniisip ako ngayon na in this moment when we release something, wag muna pambabatikos kaagad yung rinerelease since that’s not what people need now. We need to boost people’s morale especially the front liners. What we can do is infographics on how we can help.
- Je: That’s okay with me if hohold muna yung statement sa Covid. I will ask help from Andi since STRAW. So I have to ask the core if they can make an infog since we are currently working on econcepts. Unless kaya ng M&P.
- Josh: If donation drive, we can send lang USC’s
- Je: We can include other services like sa UP Manila they’re asking donations for PGH. So we’ll collate all those calls for donations
- Maui: May nagsend ng masterfile for donations sa batch namin.
- Josh: Isama natin sa infog yung master list na yun
- Andi: Yeah para rin its audience friendly It’s easy to read
- Josh: Okay sige.
- Andi: By when sana?
- Josh: Sunday. Kaya ba?
- Andi: Will we ask help from orallo?
- Josh: Yes
- Reg: Yung sa Infogs, DOH always shares nandun yung mga guidelines on what to do if you show symptoms since may protocols and hotlines also
- Josh: Yung sinend ni ma’am Magno sa email natin, let’s include. So our infog is what to do, where to go, and sino kokontakin. And we also need to highlight the importance of not discriminating someone who may be infected, since minsan tinataboy nalang ng mga tao.
- Andi: So donations, what to do when you have it, how to avoid, hotlines, and not discriminating when you have it.
- Josh: We can release the statement when it’s dying down.
- Je: Sige okay lang naman. The statement lang naman talks about the economic implications of the pandemic. Aside from those, meron pa bang suggestions? Maybe we can know your rights.
- Josh: To summarize: our work as a council to check on the constituents by contacting them through our master list and we have to look for a way to make it not look too formal like we can tap barkadas. If okay sila, let’s highlight them green then if not okay, we can highlight yellow. Second, check if someone needs help or donations or if they show symptoms. Next our infog, we have what to put na. Sunday is our target pero Monday latest to be released. Our statement will go out when everything is dying down na.
- Je: I just wanna make sure someone is coordinating sa graduate students natin.
- Josh: yup kasama sila sa mailing list and if ever I can ask for the list from ma’am Magno.
VIII. Other Matters
- Orallo: You guys can ask me to do pubs para may magawa kami.
