UP ORGANIZATION OF
BUSINESS ECONOMICS MAJORS The Home to Be
Vision & Mission: (1) To provide and create an environment that is responsive to the needs of its members while conducive to their social responsibility, academic, professional, and personal development. (2) To hone and nurture members who will be future leaders and economic catalysts. And all of these with the spirit of family. |
Initially, the BS Business Economics program was a joint program of the College of Business Administration and the School of Economics. Since the first batch of BE students were few, they were squeezed into other BA blocks. Whenever they had problems with their subjects and class schedules, they had to go back and forth from CBA to UPSE for advising. And that's because there was no clear boundary and possession of the BSBE program between the two colleges. To address this dilemma, eight students formed the UP Organization of Business Economics Majors (UP OBEM). After its official recognition on December 9, 1987, UP OBEM has since served as a second home to its members. Historically, only BSBE students were allowed to join the organization, but to further expand its reach and serve a larger fraction of the student body, UP OBEM now accepts BS Economics Majors as well.
